We had left Achelo's home and went towards the closest town. It was there that we went to a large board in the town centre."The townspeople tend to put requests on here. Most are just easy stuff like babysitting and stuff like that but others put on here the more juicy of requests." Achelo told me and I nodded.
"Ah the old swellow came out of his house today I see." A laughing stranger said. I turned to look at him with my eye colour shifting to purple. "Oh hello Hubert." Achelo told the stranger.
"So you still haven't decided to give up being an adventurer?" Hubert chided Achelo and I could tell my friend was internally grumpy.
"Of course not. I won't ever stop helping others." Achelo cawed back grumpily.
"Look around. Does it look like adventurers and guildists decide to help? Does it look like they would give a damn?" Hubert asked.
I glanced around and noticed the amount of rather old looking buildings and most were worn down. 'Hmm he has a good point about the issues here.' I thought to myself.
"Tch, I knew you would say such things Hubert but it doesn't make me any less inclined to decide to adventure and help others." Achelo retorted and well Hubert laughed and walked away.
"Achelo, is that true that adventurers don't tend to care?" I asked as this was now a new question in my mind.
"To an extent he is right. See this town is quite far in the hills of Bixrava and as such isnt all that close to the guilds, meaning that adventurers and guildists tend not to come into this town that often." Achelo explained. "It is why pokemon like Hubert tend to speak against anyone that even supports guilds."
I nodded as I took this all in. "I see but then that raises more questions of why the buildings are runned down and shabby anyway? Because wouldn't they have funding from the kingdom?" I asked and Achelo sighed.
"Carnal, listen the kingdom doesn't fund everywhere and everything. Out in the boondocks it is well known that money is rather sparse and also that the likely outcome of money being lost is what we have now." Achelo explained.
I nodded again and felt glad this question was answered. Achelo kept looking over the notice board and eventually found a request. "It hasn't got much of a reward but it will do. We have to find a lost kid, his name is Zex by the looks of it he is a noctowl." Achelo explained and I nodded a little.
"Okay lets head off." Achelo said and lead me out of the town. Hopefully this will help me find more answers about myself.
'Could I find my answers to my purpose?' I thought to myself as I followed.
We continued into the meadow area just out of town and their was a cave entry or sunken in temple entry. "In here would be it. This is the only place I can think a child would think to go but it is a sunken building and as such may contain something bad inside. We need to watch carefully." Achelo warned me and I nodded to show I understood.
We continued on and went into the sunken temple and from the start it was creepy. I felt worried and anxious because of how the walls looked and the ominous air just made it worse.
"I don't like it down here." I told Achelo and he nodded. "Well think of how Zax may be? He probably is scared as well, that is why we must continue on and find him. Put aside your own fear so to relieve the fear of others." Achelo explained to me and I followed on.
It was dark in here and dusty but the crying of some pokemon could be heard.
As we went on, the walls seemed to display images of pokemon and other things. One facinated me a bit. "Achelo, what does this mean?" I asked as I pointed to some ancient inscription.
Achelo read it and sighed. "It is unreadable for me. Though the image speaks words itself. By the looks of it, this drawing shows some form of ritual." Achelo tried explaining.
"Hmm, I see." I continued looking at it until we decided to move on but I felt that what was displayed may be something I will need to find out.
We kept going deeper and deeper in and surprisingly were met with no enemies. "It must be abandoned." Achelo stated but I could hear something that made me recall the sound of water dripping.
"Um Achelo I can hear something." I told my friend and he stopped and nodded. "Yeah I can hear something as well... It sounds like a bubbling sound." Achelo described.
We looked at each other and I had felt this signalled that we were in fact going to inspect this sound.
We kept walking towards the sound and as it got closer so did the crying of, most likely, the one we were sent to find.
Eventually we reached the source of the bubbling sound. "Holy father of Arceas!" Achelo cawed at the sight of tanks. Not just any tanks but experiment container tanks.
Achelo looked speechless as he saw what was inside of them. Young pokemon that were most likely dead, the water had blood mixed in it, as they were not moving and this testing lab seemed to be deserted.
"Wh-who is there?" A scared caw asked and this also snapped Achelo back to reality.
We walked closer to the sound of the voice and saw a scared looking noctowl with a yellow scarf on. "Are you Zax?" I asked and he slowly nodded.
"Y-yeah I am. I came in here after my parents had a big fight. I flew so far in here and found this room and got so scared." Zax said timidly.
"I wonder if the others were scared in the place we came from?" I asked quietly.
'This place sure does remind me of the lab, except this testing place is underground, though the lab isnt existent and well the fact all its experiments decided upon not working the way they wanted helped in that.' I thought to myself.
