"Wake up, birthday boy," Perrie's voice wakes me from my light slumber. I roll over and she plants a kiss on my lips. Great way to wake up.
"Good morning to you, too," I smile without opening my eyes.
"Come on, sleepy head. It's your birthday! We have stuff to do!" Perrie tells me.
"No," I groan.
"Shut up," Perrie giggles. "We can do whatever you want tonight if you get out of bed now."
"That's evil," I say as my eyes shoot open and I sit up slowly. She laughs.
"And it's snowing, too," Perrie says. "We can get cozy."
"What are we doing now?" I ask her.
"It's already 12:30, and I was thinking we could go get something to eat at Nando's? I talked to Rebecca and she said that she would lower the service rate a little bit today so that there's no screaming fans inside," Perrie tells me.
"Okay," I agree. "Let's do it."
"Clara, please stop crying. You're scaring me. What's wrong?" I ask my girlfriend who is sitting on our bed and crying into her hands.
"I-I'm sorry," she apologizes, and starts laughing. "I just--" she laughs harder. What the fuck?
"It's all back," Clara tells me. "Everything, Harry. Their all back."
"The memories?" I ask, daring to hope.
"Yes," she laughs. "Harry, they're back. They're back."
"Oh my God," I laugh, our lips crashing. "Oh my God," I continue laughing against her lips. Her tears of happiness are falling on my face and it feels like a fucking cleansing shower. It's sure as hell better than the acid rain that I've grown way too used to. The joy of the news that she's just shared with me is intoxicating. I feel like I'm about to burst. She kisses me for what feels like an eternity.
"I have to tell El and Louis," she laughs, giddy with excitement. I roll my eyes as she stands up and throws on decent clothes. I capture her hand in mine. She whirls around and meets my eyes.
"I love you, Clara," I tell her. And the Clara that looks back at me is my Clara. The Clara that I know. The Clara that I understand.
"I love you more," she smiles, pecking me one last time on the lips and skipping out of the room.
It feels so good to remember. I feel like myself again. I knock loudly on Louis and Eleanor's bedroom door and Louis opens the door quickly.
"What's wrong?" he asks immediately. "Are you guys okay?"
I throw my arms around him. "I'm back," I tell him.
"Like...?" he trails off, afraid to hope like Harry.
