"Sure, just..." Spit it out! "Have you seen Tabather? We were going on a... Well, a, um, date and she didn't show." A look of shock crossed his face.
"Um... Maybe she changed her mind, yeah that'll be it! You're wasting your time there mate, she's totally into someone else... or, um, so I hear." Oh.
"Well, thanks anyway. I'm off to textiles."
"Don't worry about Tom." Why would Ben be talking about his mate behind his back? I wonder...
"What do you mean by that?"
"He's got a bit of a... thing for that girl."
"Yeah, gotta go. See you around sometime."
"Frank!" My textiles teacher called me back to her desk as I was just about to get out the door.
"I heard that you and Tabather Wild were going to, you know, go out, is this correct?"
"Miss, I don't see what this has to do with you but, she didn't show Saturday so there's nothing going on between us." My brain was wizzing round like someone had decided to make a brain smoothie or something and just shoved mine into a blender. Why was Miss interested in me and Tabather? Wait. I hadn't seen Tabather all day! Oh crap. "What's happened to her!?"
"She was involved in an accident..."
