"Found anything?" Harry asked from the doorway to Ginny's room where I would also be staying for the next few days. I was bent over a rather thick book which had all the complicated spells in it. I had been sitting there for over two hours and had not found any spell that was remotely similar to the Lethus Curse.
"Nothing," I replied with a groan. "There is no curse that is similar to the one they told us about in this book. We've looked in all those books too." I pointed to the stack of books that lay on the floor. Ginny and I had taken turns riffling through the books. Each of us would spend two hours going through the book and then the other would take over.
"But how can that be possible?" asked Ginny, getting up from her bed and making her way over to the desk. I got up with a sigh and let her take over. My two hours were over and now it was her turn.
To me, somehow the word Lethus sounded familiar. It was almost like I had read it or something similar to it in a book, but I couldn't recall which one. My parents would be coming over tomorrow and then the next day would be Christmas. A christmas without Ron just did not seem right.
After two more hours, Ginny had managed to look through every book that was in the huge stack next to her desk. I had found the books from a cupboard at Grimauld Place a long time ago and had kept them with me. The pile also included some books on ancient spells that I had bought from Flourish and Blotts, and some of the thick books were Mr Weasely's.
"Well, I guess that's all of them," Ginny groaned as she sat down on the bed where Harry was already sitting propped up on the pillows. A closer look told us that he had fallen asleep. I wasn't blaming him. He had sat there for so long, just watching as Ginny turned page upon page and I paced back and forth behind her.
"Yeah, the only thing we can do now is hope that we find something in the library at Hogwarts," I sighed.
"Yeah," Ginny replied, stifling a yawn. "I'm sure we'll find something. If we don't, maybe we can ask someone."
"Like McGonagall or Flitwick." I said.
"Or Nims," Ginny joked.
"Oh, please," I laughed. "I'd be surprised if he even knew how to cast a simple healing spell."
Ginny chuckled and asked, "So, are your parents coming over tomorrow then?"
"Yeah," I told her sadly. Inside, I was hoping that they wouldn't have to hear insults from Vanessa, Abby and Ron. That would completely ruin everything.
"I can't wait to meet them again. Your mum seems really nice."
I smiled widely at her. "She is."
"Well, I'm going to go to sleep now," Ginny replied with a mischievous grin as she dashed towards the other bed that was facing the window. I stared at her incredulously.
"What about me? Harry's on this bed!"
"That's your problem," grinned Ginny, and she was out like a light within seconds. I groaned. Way to be hospitable to a guest, you guys, I silently thought.
I stood there for a minute and even considered letting Harry sleep in the bed. But then an idea struck me, and I pulled out my wand, smiling to myself. Walking over so I was directly above Harry and my wand was pointing at his face, I whispered, "Agumenti," and a jet of cool water rushed out, splashing onto his face.
"Aaaaaarrrgghhh," he yelled, sitting bolt upright, and started to pant. "Next time.... An alarm clock would be.....nice."
"You had it coming," I told him. "Now get off the bed."
