I woke up to the beep of my alarm clock. Ugh, Monday morning.
I got up and showered. My eyes were burning, and they were all bloodshot. My head was pounding. I'm probably just getting a cold or something. Whatever, I want to see Stephanie.
I walked to the bus stop. I couldn't drive today, I'd probably crash the car.
I walked into English and sat down next to Stephanie. We were the only ones in there.
"Hey, Steph," I nudged her shoulder. She turned away.
"You okay?" I asked. She just looked down.
"Steph. Steph. Steph. Steph. Steph-" I poked her arm until she started talking.
"Louis, stop. I'm not talking to you," she sighed.
Nick walked in. "Louis, you look horrible."
"Shut up, mate," I snapped.
"You know what you did, Louis," she stood up with her binders. I stood up along with her.
"No, I don't," I was so confused.
"Figure it out," with that she walked away from the table and sat down next to Nick.
"Just tell me what I did. I know you hate Nick, you've told me. Rather than ignore me for him," I glared at Nick.
"Louis, you freaking figure it out yourself," she said with an annoyed tone of voice.
During class I found Stephanie staring at me a few times, but she would quickly look away.
After class I ran to Michael's locker.
"WHAT DID I DO?" I screamed at Michael. I love Stephanie. Tears started to form at my eyes. I better not cry, but who cares? I have nothing left anyways.
"Dude, you were freakin' drunk at Bliz, you nearly kissed another girl," he slammed his locker shut.
"I suggest you go apologize."
Holy crap. I have to go talk to Stephanie.
At lunch, I didn't see her. Luckily we have rehearsals after school. I'll have to talk to her then.
I ran to the auditorium to get there early. I found Stephanie sitting alone reading a book.
I slowly sat down in the seat next to her. She put the book down and looked straight forwards.
I looked ahead as well. "I didn't remember."
"I know," she said quietly.
"But now that I know-"
"That you're sorry?"
I nodded my head. "That I'm sorry."
"Don't be. I shouldn't care. We're just friends, and it should stay that way," she started to stand. I pulled her hand back down.
"Sorry. You know, if that hurt. But, if Hannah is what's holding you back, then just forget about her."
"Louis, she was what was holding me back, but now it's just a bad idea."
I nodded my head. "Steph, I'm sorry. I hope you know that."
She smiled. "I guess I forgive you."
I grinned uncontrollably.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, PLEASE CHANGE INTO COSTUMES AND WE WILL BEGIN," the director said.
We all changed. This rehearsal is supposed to be pretty short which I was grateful for.
The setting was the football game.
I was on stage with a ton of extras, and with Abigail. As well as, Olivia, Hannah, Ashley, and Chloe.
We all shouted, "Do the splits, give a yell! Show a little spirit for old Rydell! Way go go, red and white! Go Rydell, fight, fight, fight!"
As this girl Lydia acted as the principal, Jacob and I had to exchange glances. Gross. Even though this is just a play, I knew Louis was tense due to Jacob looking at me.
Louis, Michael, James, and Lucas came on stage and stood next to a car prop.
Michael, Lucas, and James did some stupid hand shake to show Louis.
"Guys. Be cool, huh?" Louis asked.
"Hey, watch out, pinhead," Nick said as he rhode in a car prop.
They all told Nick how junky his car was.
Nick said how he's going to be racing his car at Thunder Road.
Ashley whispered to Hannah while I walked over to them.
"Hi, Sandy," Ashley said to me.
"Oh, hi, Rizz. Hi, girls," I said.
"We got a surprise for you," she said as they walked to the left of the stage.
"Surprise? What is it?" I asked.
"You'll see. Right, Rizz?" Chloe asked.
"Hey, just let me comb your hair down a little bit here," Hannah touched my hair.
"Where are we going?" I asked Chloe.
They brought us towards Louis and his gang, as they talked about Nick's car.
"Hey, Zuko. I got a surprise for you," Ashley told Louis.
"Oh, yeah?" Louis said while standing up from the car hood.
"Yeah," Chloe pushed me right past Olivia and Ashley.
Louis' eyes went wide.
"Sandy!" he put his arms out.
"Danny?" I asked.
"What are you doing here? I thought you were going back to Australia," he told me.
"We had a change of plans," I told him.
"I can't-" Louis smile faded.
"That's cool, baby. I mean, you know how it is. Rocking and rolling and whatnot," he rolled his head back.
"Danny?" I asked.
"That's my name, don't wear it out."
"What's the matter with you?"
"What's the matter with me, baby? What's the matter with you?"
"What happened to the Danny Zuko I met at the beach?"
"Well, I do not know. I mean, maybe- maybe there's two of us, right? Why-Why don't you take out a missing-persons ad, or try the Yellow-Pages? I don't know."
"You're a fake and a phoney and I wish I'd never laid eyes on you," I threw my pom-poms down at his feet.
Louis had glum eyes and watched me storm off stage.
"THAT IS A WRAP, KIDS! NICE JOB," she yelled.
Louis met me back stage and kissed my cheek.
"Louis!" I jumped. He kissed me again, but on the lips.
"It's what will hold me over since I can't have feelings for you anymore," he winked. I blushed.
Hannah better not find out.
