Chapter 12

"Oh my god, look at that rock", gawked Maimoona.

I smiled at her still finding it hard to believe that she was really here.

"I know right," I giggled flopping back onto my bed. I raised my hand up, watching as the sunlight reflected off my new ring.

"I'm absolutely jealous of you," she pouted.

"Wait, are you still in love with Yunus?" I asked sitting up quickly shocked.

She rolled her eyes.

"Please, as if," she scoffed.

"That my friend was a childhood crush. Besides, the man is about to marry my wonderful adorable cousin," she huffed.

I looked confusedly at her.

"Then why on earth are you jealous," I asked tilting my head to the side.

Her eyes took on a hungry look,

"Why just imagine the amount, and kind of money you can make if you sell just that ring," she gushed looking at my ring longingly. I scooted away from her shocked.

"This is a family heirloom, how can I even imagine selling it?" I asked appalled.

"Because you can make thousands of dollars," she grumbled rolling her eyes.

I shook my head.

"You... have an unhealthy addiction to big money making schemes. Have you not learned from your past mistakes?" I asked her throwing my pillow at her.

She rolled her eyes

"I can't believe you haven't and won't even consider making a profit off of it," she said crestfallen.

I ignored her stuffing some popcorn in my mouth

"You know, I wonder how many times you were dropped on your head as a child" I sighed.

"Hahahaha aren't you just a funny little thing" she huffed.

"Just know that it's your loss, Shamsa would have understood the kind of profit I'm talking about," she said getting off my bed and walking into my closet.

I choose to ignore her comment about my other crazy cousin. A few minutes later she spoke again.

"Hey," she yelled from my closet.

"What?" I asked flipping through a magazine.

"Do you still have my secret stash I left with you," she asked rummaging in my closet.

"Hmmm......" I said not paying attention.

I grabbed some more popcorn.

"Hey ...who's hot leather jacket is this?" she asked walking out of my closet with Yunus's jacket in hand.

I looked up almost choking on the popcorn

"No don't," I yelled as she lifted the jacket to put it around her shoulders.

I jumped from my bed grabbing the jacket from her and putting it back in my closet.

She looked at me uncertainly, shocked by my behavior.

"You'll take the scent away," I explained lamely.

"What scent, and whose jacket is it?" she questioned me as she flipped her braids over her shoulder and crossed her arms.
