I was beyond excited. I was about to walk down that aisle and marry the man I love more than life itself.
I hugged my belly in one hand and held my bouquet in the other as I prepared myself.
"Are you good to go babe?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yes, let's do this."
As the wedding march began, Poppy and Milly walked up the aisle scattering rose petals. Harper and Megan followed and then it was our turn.
"Thank you so much for doing this." I whispered as I hugged him.
"I'll always be here for you." He responded. "Ready?"
We laughed as we made our way up the aisle, my eyes fixated on the man who would soon become my husband.
Jay held out his hand and I took it immediately. Both of us turned our attention to Carlos.
"Thank you so much...I love you." I said as I hugged him.
Jay grabbed him in a man hug.
"Thanks man, I can see how much this meant to her."
Carlos swallowed his emotions and nodded. "Get it done and I'll see you after."
We both laughed at his interpretation and turned to each other as the celebrant began speaking.
We were focussed on each other and if I read him like I thought, we were both drowning out the celebrant and waiting for the 'good bits'.
"I love you." He said quietly as the celebrant continued her speech.
"And you look so fucking beautiful." He added. "I see you brought our little one."
He knelt down and placed his hands on my belly.
"Hello little one. I'm about to marry mummy and tell her how much I love her, but I need to tell you the same. I love you so much and I can't wait to see you."
The celebrant was a little flustered, but we didn't care. This was our wedding and whatever happened was what we wanted. It wasn't by script and it wasn't by order. It was by us. Jay and I.
"Would you like to recite your vows?" She asked and Jay excitedly agreed.
"Sorry babe, but I'm firstly going to acknowledge the 'other' men in my life." I felt his grip on my wrist tighten, but as I looked at him it loosened.
"Carlos. I don't even know what to say. You being here for me means more than you'll ever know. The fact that Jay felt you worthy of walking me down the aisle hopefully shows my depth of feelings for you. The fact that you did it means so much more. I love you."
"And Cam, if you weren't standing beside your best friend right now, you would have been beside me. You have been there for me when I needed you and I love you for it."
"Megan and Harper; I love you both and am so thankful for you getting me here today.". I laughed as I turned towards Jay.
"And you Jay. You make me happier than I've ever been. I could not imagine my life without you in it. It would be meaningless and empty, just as it was before I met you. I love you so much it hurts."
He took me in his arms and I felt his love.
"Shit Mia, I love you too. We were brought together for a reason babe, to complete each other. We're meant to be together...you know it and so do I. You brought me out of a dark place that I'd been buried in for so long babe and I'll be eternally grateful that you entered my life."
The celebrant cleared her throat and we both looked at her a bit annoyed.
"Vows?" She said exasperated and we both laughed.
"I think we just said them." Jay pointed out.
"Very well." She said, obviously not happy.
Honestly, who gave a fuck what she thought anyway?
"I now pronounce you man and wife." She said quickly before gathering her stuff and leaving.
Short, but to the point I think.
