22 | Did I mention he was an asshole?

It annoyed the shit out of me.

"It's Alex" I told him peeling his arm off my shoulders,

"Whatever, anyway I wanted to ask if you were okay?"

"Yeah why wouldn't I be okay?" I asked confused,

"I heard what happened at the beach"

"Oh that, yeah I'm fine" I brushed him off, looking at my feet.

"You're a terrible liar," he told me and I looked at up him, his eyes boring a hole deeply into mine,

"I'm fine" I said with a genuine smile, it was nice that he cared.

"Yeah sure whatever you say"

"You're an asshole"

"An incredibly hot asshole"

"An incredibly gross asshole, go take a shower" I retorted and he laughed.

"Anyway I wanted to ask you if you were doing anything tomorrow afternoon?" he asked and my interest piqued.

"After work, no why?"

"I need someone to babysit Beth"

"Oh"

"Yeah, its just after that hospital thing and Elliot around somewhere I don't really want to leave her with some random babysitter" and I nodded,

"Will, Grayson, Kasey, Ethan, Val and I are meeting up to talk about this whole problem you know? And I really want someone I can trust to look after Beth"

"Yeah sure" I told him, "I'll need a ride though, and Noah probably wouldn't like that I was going to your house too"

"I'll pick you up and drop you home and stuff don't worry about it".

With that he began walking away from the bleachers but called back to me, "Thanks Alexandra, it means a lot"

I felt a little deflated after that, but honestly, I don't know what I was expecting.

"He likes someone else Lex I'm telling you!" Christina complained to me after I finished serving a customer.

We were back on the topic of her mysterious phone buddy who she'd never met in her life but had developed a crush over him.

"No way! You guys have been talking for what? Months now! And when I spoke to him he definitely seemed to like someone and-"

"See! He likes someone else you just said so yourself" she said to me as I hung up my apron, "Geez Alex why is this so hard for you to understand"

"Shut up you ass, let me finish- that person he likes is you"

"How would you know?" she whined,

"Because they don't call me Alex, Cupid's Assistant for nothing",

"You're an idiot you know that"

"Hey!"

"Yeah, your friend Mia came over here telling me never to get relationship advice from you, that didn't end so well did it?"

"That was different" I said defending myself.

"I'm not taking any chances"

"You're mean"

"You're single"

I gasped dramatically, "Goodbye Christina!" before walking out the door with her laughing behind me.

Logan's car was already waiting for me when I walked out and I stepped in.

"Why do you bother with your seatbelt?" he said when I clicked in my seat belt, I looked over at Logan who wasn't wearing his.

Of course he wasn't.

"Because it's the law?" I said like he asked something stupid, because let's face it, he did.

"But Grove Hill's police department don't give a shit"

"Well it's safer"

"You don't feel safe with me?" he said innocently and my eyes widened,

"No I mean like... what I meant to say was...well-" I didn't get to finish because his laughter filled the car,

"Shut up and drive Ryder," I murmured.

I nearly ripped the handle of the car door off,

"Logan you piece of absolute shit! Do you have a death wish?"

He had sped the whole way back to his house just to prove a point,

That asshole.

"See? I told you the seatbelts don't matter"

"Yeah? Think about that next time you nearly ram us into a tree you dipshit!"

I stormed through the backyard of Logan's house without him to get into the house since he'd told me beforehand to go through the backdoor.

Wow I'm stupid.

Loud terrifying barking noises came from behind me and I spun around on my heel to see Bella come bounding towards me with full force,

So this is how it ends?

Bella was in front of me before I could even think about running, she pounced on me and I fell on my ass, the soft grass cushioning my fall.

Suddenly a long slobbery tongue began licking my face and if it wasn't for Logan's howls of laughter, I probably wouldn't have opened my eyes.

Bella took off towards Logan who was stroking her affectionately, I propped up on my elbows, still lying on the grass.

"She likes you"

"I guess that's an improvement since last time?"

"She knows who you are now," he said while I stood up straight,

"Lexie!" Beth squealed running out of the house and tightening her arms around my legs, Bella noticed the excitement and came running back over to us.

Bella spun circles around my legs and Beth making me dizzy, I would've been able to keep my balance if it weren't for Beth's arms tied around my legs.

Once again I fell into the grass and Logan burst out into laughter again.

Did I mention he was an asshole?
