The way I see it, you either exist or you run away from existing.
You either call a spade a spade or think of a thousand ways how to describe the spade, without calling it a 'spade'.
What I'm trying to say is that you get two types of people is every situation. The ones that dip
their toe into the water before swimming or the others that dive in before you can say: "Wait, there's no water!"
My problem is, I don't know which person I am- yet. But I guess there's nothing wrong with shaking the present before checking what's inside.
But anyway, hey. My name is Iolanthe Holmes. Iolanthe is Greek for 'Violet flower', so everyone calls me Violet. I recently turned 17 and unlike my 20 year old brother, my parents trust me.
"Come on Alfie, please!" I said with an irritating squeal.
"No Violet, I don't trust you- especially after what happened last time."
"That's not fair, it was my first driving lesson. Did you really expect it to go smoothly?"
"Of course not, but I really didn't think you or anyone in fact, could be that horrible at something as easy as driving."
"Don't come with your shit Alfie, you failed your drivers test not once, but twice."
"That's different Violet."
"How's it diff—" Alfie slaps his hand over my mouth.
"Stop squealing and lets go. My shift starts in an hour," Alfie says before letting out a long, irritated sigh.
"I owe you one."
"After this, I deserve at least 5 'I owe you's'" I grab the keys and run out the front door pushing past Alfie.
"Are you coming or not?" I say jumping on the bonnet of Alfie's 500 year old car.
"If you don't mind, I'm trying to enjoy my life before it ends," he says under his breath.

Pleased with my driving, I look at Alfie, taking my eyes off the road.
"So, what do you think? Better than mom, right?" I smirk.
"Are you mad, keep your eyes on the road! You're honestly so stupid sometimes, fuck Violet," he says sounding more scared than angry.
I know I should be offended with what he said, but I know he doesn't mean it. He just gets like this when he's nervous and besides I'm way too excited to get upset. Driving is the best. I feel so in control, which I am, so I better listen to Alfie.
"I'm sorry Violet, you know—"
"Don't stress, I've already forgotten all about it." A smile escapes at the corner of his mouth and he gives me a assuring squeeze on my shoulder.
After driving around the block a couple of times, we decide to come back home. Alfie's shift starts in 15 minutes, but luckily he works just around the corner.
"I'm going to quickly hop in the shower, then head off to work. See you later." He walks up a few stairs then turns back around, "You did good, Sis. I'm proud of you," I run up the stairs and give him a tight squeeze.
"I couldn't of done it without- your car." Alfie playfully pushes my head back, "You're such a cow, Violet," he can't help but laugh, neither can I.
"Now go, you're going to be late!"
