Letting someone in [Law x Reader]

1.6K 60 2

The captain of the Heart Pirates had been feeling uneasy for the past months. It had been a year since (Y/N) had joined the crew, and much to his dismay, months since she had captured his heart.

Law shifted in bed. He let out an audible groan before turning again, this time facing the open window.

Why couldn't he just push her out of his mind? What did she have that was so attractive?

It wasn't like she was even trying. It was just... her smile, her casual attitude, the way she would let him have all the space he needed and how she knew how to act whenever he was around...

He groaned again and buried his face in his pillow.

That had to stop. Trafalgar D. Water Law couldn't afford to be vulnerable.

Plus, he was pretty sure she had no romantic interest in him.

How could she? His attitude towards everybody was cold and distant. He was their captain, no less, no more. And that was how it had to be.

And yet, (Y/N) had crawled under his skin and was pumping butterflies down his throat.

Knowing he wouldn't be able to sleep, the dark-haired man sat up and buried his face in his hands. When he let them fall to his sides moments later, stars surrounded him until his eyes adjusted to the moonlight coming in through the window.

He got up, let out a loud sigh and made his way out and through the small corridors of the submarine, wandering with no place in mind.

The floor was cold against his bare feet, but he didn't care. It relaxed his tense muscles.

It must had been really late, he could faintly hear the snores as he passed every bedroom. Law continued walking until he reached a dead end. Turning around, he decided he would just go to his office. Maybe some work would distract him. Hopefully.

Law stood in front of the closed door of his office, his right hand resting on the knob, him wondering if he should eat something before immersing himself in paperwork.

And so, he turned around and made his way to the kitchen.

The kitchen light was on. He frowned. He was pretty sure he hadn't seen anybody leaving their room.

He came closer cautiously and listened. Nothing. His frown only deepened.

Maybe someone left the light on...?

Law opened the door, ready to face enemies if necessary, but he hadn't been prepared to see the cause of all his problems.

(Y/N) looked up from her book and into his gray eyes and flashed him a warm smile. He refrained himself from screaming.
