SONG - "Kaze Ni Fukaretemo" Keyakizaka46

Lily

I let the chords of the guitar and the sound of clapping fill my thoughts. My heart slowly loses it's tightness and returns to normal as Megan starts to sing the first verse of Mine by Taylor Swift. Cliché, right?

It's a song that our educational teacher taught us so that we could strengthen our bond. He said it would help us when we teach in groups or pairs. At first it was so cliché and wrong that we opposed and tried to breeze through it, but now, despite the lyrics not really matching up to our story, it fits us perfectly.

"You were in college working part time waiting tables. Left a small town, never looked back..."

Megan's peaceful singing face relaxes me. It's like the first time we had to sing the song. We were all struggling with the beat and the lyrics but Megan already knew them.

Her face was red and she wouldn't stop hiding her face with the little piece of paper. The teacher even made her sing it alone a couple of times but Megan couldn't hide her excitement there. She loved this song and made us promise to never tell anyone. Of course, we didn't. But Victor still uses that information to tease her.

Both packs form a circle around us, clapping along.

My eyes search the crowd for him but I don't see him. And for the first time in a while, my wolf isn't as upset with me. She smiles and I feel her happiness giving me energy and positive thoughts.

My bad history with the Red Dawn Pack is momentarily forgotten. The smiles and claps of the Red Dawn Pack and the Dark Moon Pack coexisting together with a simple song... It makes me feel gooey inside.

My hands tremble as my part is up. One thing that hasn't changed about me, is how much of a horrible singer I am. It makes me self conscious. Fingers intertwined with mine and by the small twitch of hands, I know it's Jeremy.

I inhale, "I say can you believe it? As we're lying on the couch? The moment I can see it. Yes, yes, I can see it..."

My face burns as a couple pack members walk away as soon as I begin to sing. Jeremy chuckles beside me and begins his part. Unlike me, he was blessed with vocals that have the ability to get you pregnant. I know it sounds weird but girls have actually wet themselves at the sound of it. One girl even claimed that her water broke.

Finally the chorus comes up and we all begin to sing together.

"Do you remember, we were sitting there by the water? You put your arm around me... for the first time. You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter. You are the best thing that's ever been mine..."

Jeremy touches my cheek as he sings the song and I find myself melting at the sound of his voice and his attractiveness all in one.

A few people attempt to clap along but Megan shoots them a glare and they stop.

Jeremy, Jesse and Victor begin to sing in unison. "I fell in love with a careless man's careful daughter. She is the best thing that's ever been mine..."

An unpleasant sound comes out my mouth at the look of concentration Victor has as he struggles to play some notes. A jab makes me jump. Megan glares at me so hard that for a second, I forget we are friends and not enemies.

"I can see it now..."

By the end of the song, we were all breathless. People are clapping and cheering but we all stay frozen in embarrassment.
