Pathfinder
Imagine you are in a forest. Trees are all around you on all sides reaching up to the sky. You look around as to hope for anyone to see you but you can’t see anything but a path curving around a huge oak tree. In life comes with unexpected things like a sudden twist in a once straight path in a forest leading away from the main path you remember. Change is like a twist or a turn in that path. You have to make many choices like choosing with which way to go on the path. There are things you cannot think you will ever experience like a tree right in the middle of where you’re walking or an unexpected field that you have to walk through. You can’t really predict everything that is going to happen in or come in or out of your life or in your path. The tall hickory tree, that stands in your way as if it was someone or something that comes into your life. You keep walking but hear footsteps behind you. You turn to see a girl look back at you with the look of confusion you are giving her right now. The hickory tree that once stood there is no long there but in her place is a tall, blue eyed, blonde hair, freckled, pretty girl. You look back at her once more time as to say come on let’s keep following the path to see where it might take up.
The scenery around you is changing the trees are slowly disappearing and becoming less and less. The once narrow unexpected path is now becoming straight concrete, wide and easier to walk along. There are no longer trees around you. The girl that you once talked with, laughed with smiled, made jokes had fun, made memories is now gone her spate path. Life can be straight and stress free as a well marked park trail on a bright not to hot summer day. Some may say this is the point in your life. When you’ll find love, make memoires, friends and many other things. The trail underneath your feet is becoming more straight and easier to except and see what is around you. You see a little girl riding her bike as if she is having the time of her life. You turn the other direction to see others following their trail never straying from their path seeming as happy as they ever have been in there life. As you continue to walk you notice you are going in the other direction of everyone else as like your life is changing for the better or even the worst.
As the path leads you in to the mountains and the hills through snow and rain, this symbolizes hardship. Losing a job is like falling down on the path or getting hurt. The path gets harder as your life does. The path becomes overgrown with weeds, and grass. It may disappear but doesn’t. You path leads you into the depth of the mountain.
Your path crosses with another. He is smart, kind and funny. But he is not strong enough to make through the mountain and deep down you know it. His strength is fading as the sun is setting. His eyes are full of the world’s pain and suffering. He cannot keep his balance like a new born baby calf. He lies down to sleep that night beside you for warmth. But you feel the warmth fade as the winter wind blows. It blows his out like a flame. When you wake up the next morning to finish your journey you see him and his path is like him cut off, stopped ended. Just like his life.
You start over threw the mountains as if you never knew him, never loved him. You know you have to keep going for him. It was his wish you know. The path takes you way from the mountains and into the country side and into the city. You retrace your steps you make sure you’re going the right way. You are but you can’t believe it. That your journey is coming to an end.
You step on to the subway. Your path led you here to the place where he grew up, lived, and loved. The big city is crowed and full of people. Paths can be like this. Whether it’s an open road or just school but they all lead to empty times.
You are walking to a house. Where you hope you can rest. There is a note on the door from him. He says he always thought I’d make. I look around me there is nothing but this house. Paths have to end but not always they can stop at times. As you enter the house you realize you remember it like a dream. As you lay your head down and sleep wishing for yet another path to take you to find him.
