He woke up somewhere bright and white.

Not recognizing the place immediately, he sat up quickly in bed to look around, only to collapse back down as a soaring pain crashed through his school. He took a few desperate breaths, trying to get the pain away and ended up in tears. His body felt so heavy and he wanted to do was go back to sleep so he could deal with this later and-

He who?

He's suddenly wide awake, truly panicking now and despite the pain pulsing through him, he sat up again and looks around. He doesn't know where he is at first, everything was too bright and something was beeping steadily next to him. For a second he almost regrets getting up, but confusion and curiosity overpowers him and he pushed through.

A hospital. He's pretty sure he's in a hospital. At least he'd remember if his house looked like this. He would, right? If he was being completely honest he probably couldn't. His mind seemed so foggy and his vision was fuzzy and he was still recovering from the black spots dancing across his eyes, begging him to lay back down. He ignored it all and tried to focus, concentrate, do something. Still, there was nothing except the now annoying beeping from a machine he had yet to identify. Everything was so new and different and he wasn't meant to be here. He just wanted to go home and rest and recover.

But where exactly was home?

For the first time in the five minutes he's been awake, he forces himself to fully relax, his shock turning to pain.

Relax.

He sank into his pillow and closed his eyes. Relax and think. Nice and calm.

He quickly grew frustrated however, as even thinking was difficult. It's because you're tired, he told himself and found it somewhat true. He was tired but he doubted that was the reason he couldn't think. He wanted to know what was going on though.

He opened his eyes and looked around again. He was completely alone in bed, in a hospital he didn't know, a place he didn't recognize, a body he didn't recognize.

His eyes flew to the window. There was light outside. He briefly wondered for how long he was out before he caught sight of something colourful on a little nightstand next to his bed. It was mostly small things. Cards, he realized, and flowers. He decided he'd look at them later when he was less shaken.

He brought his attention back to the rest of the room. There was a closet cracked open to reveal some clothes. His head ached when he looked at them so he quickly turned his gaze away to investigate his room further. A door cracked open to a bathroom and an open one leading to the hallway.

Getting used to his surroundings somewhat calmed him down a little and he decided that now was a good a time as ever to read one of the cards.

We all really hope you get better soon.

You were either extremely brave or incredibly

stupid and we think it might have been a mix

of both.

In all honesty though, we knew you were

impulsive, but this? This takes the cake.

We're sending you all of our love and

well-wishes,

Your favourite sisters,

Angelica, Eliza, and Peggy.

He doubted his first expected reaction was to panic, but that was sure as hell what he was doing because he didn't recognize those names. Whoever these people were, they obviously knew him and even well enough to send him a get better card (why did he need to get better?) but he didn't know them. If he did, he certainly didn't remember them.
