I awoke to the sound of beeping. Ugh! My alarm!
"Babe! Can you turn that off please?" I asked groggily.
"Kaitlin! Sweetie! It's mommy" a female shouted,
I felt cool hands being placed on my forehead.
"Mmmm, mom? Ugh! I don't wanna go to a school today I don't feel good." I replied.
I heard her light laugh.
"Oh sweetie, you don't have to go to school. Just wake up for me." She begged.
I opened my eyes, the fluorescent light burning them.
"There are those big beautiful eyes!" She cooed.
"Mom? What's going on?" I asked.
Trying to move, a sharp pain shot up my leg.
I cried out.
"Don't try moving! You were in an accident. You're pretty hurt." She told me.
Suddenly images flashed back. The club, the car. The drinking. Oh god the drinking.
"Was anybody hurt?" I asked,
"Just a pole. And your car." She laughed.
"Am I in trouble?" I asked.
"No. Don't worry. The police are letting you go. But you are going to have to pay for the pole you destroyed." She informed.
I sighed. Well it could've been worse.
"Is Hannah here?" I asked.
"She downstairs with Nathan. I'll get her" she got up and left.
Destery. I wonder if he's ok. I should've just let him explain. And avoid this whole mess. I'm so stupid.
The door burst open.
"Kat!" Hannah shouted.
She ran to my bedside smiling and crying at the same time.
"Well, looks like I ruined your birthday." I said sheepishly.
"Don't even worry about it! I'm just glad your ok. Mostly." She said.
"Oh yeah! So what's broken?" I asked.
"Nothing! You have a fracture in your leg. And whiplash. But other that that you're ok!" She said happily.
Nathan stood behind her. Blank expression.
"Where's Destery?" I asked quietly.
They looked at each other.
"He uh.....isn't coming" Hannah said finally.
I looked down. Of course he isn't here...
"It's my fault. I was stupid. And jumped to ridiculous conclusions." I whined.
"He's not mad! He just, can't look at you. He thinks it's his fault that you drove drunk." She jumped.
"Never! It's my fault! I should've given him my keys in the first place." I tried to explain.
Suddenly the doctor came in.
"Ah! Look who's awake!" She said cheerily.
Everyone looked at her.
"Ok. Not that kinda room.... Well I need everyone to clear out." She said. They left.
She approached the bed.
"Ok. I'm gonna ask you a few questions."
"How are you feeling?" She asked
