After gathering Archer, I rounded the corner that led to the exit. With barely a thought, I summoned Hail. "Please go and tell Nathan about the mission." I told him, grinning as his eyes beamed at me happily. He padded quickly down the hallway, and was out of sight in a matter of seconds. Aisu darted down the hallway from who-knows-where and skidded to a halt beside me.
"Mistress." He said, dipping his head.
"Aisu." I said, containing a strange giggle. As I walked toward the exit with about forty-five seconds to spare, I could see Shinobi pacing up and down in front of the exit door. "Well, Shinobi," I called, "I figured I'd find you here." My backpack was slung carelessly over my shoulder, holding both Archer's and my own belongings.
"So you'll go? You'll come?" Shinobi said eagerly, his green eyes wide. I shrugged, not truly caring.
"I'll go as I please." I said flatly. Shinobi's eyes dimmed. "I'm not saying I won't help you out a bit... I'm just saying that if I think more bad than good will come of this, then I'll end it right where we are, no matter how close we are to this Christina." Shinobi sighed, nodding his head in understanding. Man, I love power.
I grinned carefully as Hail returned with Nathan. "Let's go, yeah? I'm not going to wait much longer." Nathan nodded his emerald eyes twinkling with mischief. Shinobi went out the door at a pace just short of running. I rolled my eyes lazily before I walked out, taking my sweet time. Aisu grew to his full size (as a Wolf), and I climbed onto his back, my hands running through the thick fur on his shoulders.
"So Shinobi," I said, Aisu falling into step beside him, "what are they people here going to do now that you've left them leaderless for this little escapade?" I pulled Archer up behind me, and his ten-year-old arms wrapped around my waist tightly. I motioned for Nathan to ride a newly summoned Frost and for Shinobi to climb aboard the suddenly appearing Sleet.
"Uh, no thanks, I prefer to walk." He said to my offer. I shrugged. Hail and Sleet walked close to me, constantly sniffing our heavily wooded surroundings. "We always have a back-up for our leaders here in 13, so I put them in charge with an order to evacuate to the main base." I shrugged.
"But doesn't it seem a bit selfish to do that? They need a leader, Shinobi. A good leader doesn't leave their followers or comrades for their own intrests." Shinobi shot me a glare, and I knew that I'd hit a sore spot, but I continued to talk. "I mean, what would you do if your leader did that? I'd be pretty mad, that's for sure. I didn't really want to come with you because this is so selfish."
Shinobi's jaw clenched. "Just shut up, will you? You're not any better!" I growled, my inner Wolf dying to come out and snap at him.
"Oh? At least I don't abandon my comrades like you did yours!" Aisu growled at Shinobi as he stopped and glared at me, his hand dropping to his katana. "You want to hurt me? Go ahead! I DARE you!" Shinobi hissed in irritation.
"Tell me, Shinobi! When did I purposely abandon my comrades? When?" Anger was causing my blood to boil. How dare he accuse me of such a treacherous act!
"When you..." Shinobi paused for a moment, probably wracking his brain for something to use against me. "When you fled from the shelter here and went out into the woods!" It was with that comment that I snapped.
"Archer, stay on Aisu." I said quietly, detangling myself from his grip. I slid down Aisu's side and stalked up to Shinobi, my eyes blazing with anger. Though Shinobi practically towered over me, I wasn't going to let that intimidate me. "Do you know why I ran out?" I almost shouted, my finger nearly stabbing him in the chest as I spoke. "Do you?!" Shinobi hissed.
"You were probably thinking of leaving!" He said. "That's all you'd probably do! Leave and go and join THEM!" I stepped back, stunned. "You'd join the Government! After all isn't that where your parents work? Isn't that where your friend Bellatrix's loyalty lies?" I was so shocked, that I didn't even listen to the rest of Shinobi's verbal abuse. "-and that brother of yours-" Brother? What brother? "-and that's all you Sacrifices are good for! Running and hiding and not caring!"
