Chapter Nine: Differences

I didn’t know what I was thinking when I rushed in to help Kaisa. All I could see was his battered body, lying limply on the ground. I had a plan, for some odd reason, and rushed in to execute it. I rushed past a swing from Clarinet’s heavy arm, and placed a teleportation device on his chest. I input the command, and watched him disappear into the sky in a bright flash of light. I was relieved that he was safe, but now I was in major trouble.

“You managed to save your friend,” Clarinet growled as he stomped towards me, a look of menace in his eyes.  “But what about yourself? Now you're trapped here with me, and I'm going to make you suffer for hurting my little brother!”

He swung strike after strike at me in a desperate attempt to hit me. He may have been stronger than me, but his heavy body was no match for my speed. After a while, he gave up, and summoned his staff. With it, he fired countless fireballs and lightning bolts at me, all of which I managed to avoid with ease. I then rushed him, avoiding all of his attacks on the way, and placed my hand to his gut.

“Breaker Burst Strike!” I yelled, and fired a ki burst right through his torso, causing him to stagger backwards in pain.

With that, I saw my opportunity to escape. I flew back to my pod, got inside, and flew through the atmosphere, back to my ship.

On my ship, I treated Kaisa’s wounds. They were dire, and needed treatment as soon as possible.

“You're a dumbass. I hope you know that”, I said to him, frustrated.

He replied with a scoff, so I continued.  “You shouldn't have stepped in like that. Then neither of us would be in this mess. What were you even doing on Namek anyway?”

“That's none of your concern!” he yelled back at me.

I gave it deep thought, and remembered how he was also looking for Tuba on Planet Ecolan, and just happened to be on Planet Namek, and finally came to my conclusion.

“You were looking for Dragon Balls, weren't you?” I asked him finally.

“I don't have to tell you anything!” he replied.

“Whatever. This whole thing is your fault anyway. I think we should set aside our differences and work together.”

“We have a common issue here: neither of us can turn Super Saiyan anymore. For my line of work, I rely on being able to change my power level at will, and I'm sure you do too.”

“Fair point, I suppose.”

“If we want to get our power back, I think we need to work together to find a way how.”

“Why would I need your help?!”

“Because I'm smarter and stronger than you, Kaisa. That's why.”

He scoffed again, this time in concession.  “Fine! What’s your plan, oh wise one?!”

I smiled.
