"Sirius, you are being too tense. What is it?" she confronted him. Sirius looked at her and ran his hand through his hair.
"I just really don't like that Malfoy." he mumbled. Mackenzie gave him a look.
"We have had stuff like that happen with him all the time, why was this time different?" she questioned Sirius. Sirius sighed.
"Can we just go? I really don't feel like talking about this now." he murmured. Mackenzie sighed as well, giving up.
"Sure. But I will find out." she smiled at him as she nudged his shoulder. Sirius chuckled.
"I know you will."
"Mackenzie means little princess in Scotland, so bow down peasants!" Mackenzie announced as she entered the Gryffindor common room. To her amusement James was instantly in his knees.
"Oh, our graceful leader, princess Mackenzie!" he exclaimed. Mackenzie giggled.
"You are dismissed." she laughed and tapped James on his head. James chuckled as he stood up.
Mackenzie gazed around the common room. Not that many people were there during this time of the day. Mackenzie's gaze turned to the small blob on the sofa. It was Remus lying in a blanket roll. Mackenzie walked over to him and crouched next to him.
"Heya, there." she said softly. Remus was like a brother to her. They were very close. Remus opened his eyes and smiled at her.
"Hey, Caution." he said and pulled the blanket tighter around him. "I'm so cold." he muttered.
"I know." Mackenzie comforted him, petting his messy hair. Mackenzie stood up and went over to James, Sirius and Peter. "It's almost time." she said. The boys nodded.
"Tomorrow well go." James said.
- the next day -
Mackenzie was sitting in the common room, waiting for the Marauders to come. Mackenzie didn't sleep well that night. She never did when the full moon came. She was studying her wand, when she heard steps nearing her. She didn't bother to look up who it was, because she already knew.
"Hey, Sirius." she said, finally raising her head. Sirius smiled at her, sitting down next to her. Sirius always came in earlier than the others.
"Hey, Caution." he said staring into nothing. Mackenzie kept studying her wand, when Sirius spoke up.
"I don't want you to come with us today." he proclaimed. Mackenzie almost dropped her wand. She stared at Sirius.
"Excuse me?" she asked him, not believing what he just said. "You want me to stay here useless, while you guys are doing something that I should be a part of?"
"Yes. I don't want you risking your life out there." Sirius said and turned to Mackenzie, who was shocked. "Your animagus is a fox, Mackenzie. A fox against a werewolf doesn't sound too safe." he continued.
"Peter is a rat, Sirius. A rat!" Mackenzie protested as she stood up. "I'm going with you. You don't have a say in this." she said, crossing her arms.
"Mackenzie, please-" Sirius started to say, but was cut off when James and Peter walked out. It seemed like they sensed the tension in the room.
"What's going on?" James asked, switching his gaze from the Sirius and Mackenzie.
"Nothing. Shall we get going?" Mackenzie said, not even glancing at Sirius. James looked very suspicious for a moment, but shrugged it off.
"Sure. Get under the cloak." James said and held out the Invisibility Cloak. Everyone went under it, and so they were off.
