In Sundast, the nobility use a prefix before their surname in addition to title to showcase their rank. Unless married into a new family, children will carry on the prefix of their parents with the highest rank. Example: Even though through current Sundastian law she can never inherit her family's title, Cerenae's surname is still la'Orater and not bel'Orater (which denotes a Lady).
