"I'll be back in a bit," Jaxon murmurs softly after placing a kiss on my forehead. I don't say anything back in return, I watch him quietly as he makes his way out of my bedroom, shutting the door behind him.
I nestle back into my blanket and turned around once he was gone. That heavy weight in my chest was back and I couldn't control the tears that leaked out of my eyes. I didn't except Arlo leaving to hit me this hard, but some how I couldn't help but feel like this was all my fault.
If I hadn't let myself fall for Jaxon, and if I had actually given Arlo a chance then he would probably still be here. I pushed him away. I ruin one of the best friendship I could possibly ever have. I let out a sob as I slowly began to breakdown all over again. Days were just getting harder and harder, I missed him more and more each day that passed by. I just wanted him to come back, I just wanted everything to go back to the way it was. I wanted it all to stop, I wanted to shut it all off.
I let out another breathy sob when my phone dings behind me, it was a little text message sound, but I ignored it. A few seconds go by and another message comes in. I turn my head back to look at my phone on my nightstand, and see the multiple notifications on the screen, when another message comes in.
What the hell?
I turn back over to shut my phone off, clearly getting annoyed by all the little alerts, when my heart just drops. They're from him. The text messages are from Arlo. I grab my phone in a heartbeat and sit up on my bed, opening all three messages.
"Your dad called me."
"Or he's gonna come kill me."
I let out a breathy laugh at his last message, as more tears start to fall from my eyes. I feel a sudden weight being lifted off of me just at the fact that he's talking to me. I reply back in two separate messages.
"Where are you? Come back."
Apparently my dad was the only one who knew of his actual location. Just because he let him leave didn't mean he wasn't going to keep tabs on him, and from what I heard correctly he was even gonna still be working for my dad out there, doing small jobs here and there.
He texts back immediately and it almost makes me happy. "Eat.." is all he says. He ignores my question, he ignores everything.
"No. I'm not hungry." I text back.
I see the little typing bubble pop up on the screen but it suddenly disappears and my heart falls deeper into my stomach when I see that Arlo is now calling. What the hells wrong with me? What are you nervous for.
I bring the phone up to my right ear, "hello?"
"Don't give me that 'I'm not hungry' bullshit," he barks irritatedly into the phone. "Eat, Erin."
