"So," Cayde started "start explaining."
"I was going through a portal on the Dreadnaught," I started. "Expecting to head to another section of it. But ended up going to a different planet. This planet is not in our solar system, it's called Remnant. A few minutes away in warp. It's inhabited by humans like myself and Noah, however they are able to use their soul, making them stronger and have a shield - an aura is what they call it."
"The people here are locked in a match for survival," Noah continued. "Against creatures of darkness called The Creatures of Grimm. Much like the Hive they are almost pure darkness. They have these crystals they named Dust. It gives them powers much like our supers, and make them a force to be reckoned with."
"But these people are no threat to us," I chipped in. "They have no space travel. No Hive, Cabal, Fallen, Vex or Taken. Only the Grimm and criminals."
"Then we don't need you guys there anymore," said Cayde "you're staying right?"
We were silent, but only for a second.
"We ARE going back," I replied.
"No, you're not," he replied a little angry. "We are not fucking losing you guys again. You're some of the best we have and we are not having you out there wasting your time on something that's not a threat."
"It's a threat to them! Maybe not us but it is to them! I made promises out there, and I intend to keep them. I'm not saying we send out a full Division of us, but letting us stay. If you don't condone of this then I'll just take my leave then. Either way, I'm getting back out there. You have no power over me, Cayde."
It was dead silent. Not a word was said, the only noise was breathing. My breathing. Cayde and I never broke eye contact.
"What do you intend to do out there?" Zavala finally asked.
"WE intend to do our job. Keep all innocent people safe and combat the darkness. Whether the Vanguard approves of it or not."
It was silent again, the other looked at one another. My breathing was returning to normal and it was quiet.
"You have my permission to return," Ikora said breaking the silence.
"Mine as well," Zavala chipped in.
We all stared at Cayde, he sighed and slammed his fist on the table. "Great, peer pressure. Fine just promise you'll keep safe."
"Always do sir," I replied.
He sighed again and looked back at my team. "Ethan, I do need your help on something though. You... probably won't be going back to Remnant for a while."
"Jesus Christ Cayde, you just couldn't keep the gang together could you?"
"Hey, listen up kiddo. I'm just doing my job to protect the people, I need him to help with a mission." He was silent for a minute before speaking up again. "I will be sending a replacement soldier to help you three though."
"Who?"
Cayde pressed a button on his intercom, "Hey, kiddo, you can come in."
The door cracked open and a Guardian walked in. I looked over and it was a fellow Hunter. By the way the armor hugged their body I could tell they were a she. She wore Harrowed gear from our Raid on the Dreadnaught, as well as the Cloak of Seven Bones. She scanned over us, then looked at Cayde.
"You wanted to speak with me?" she questioned.
"Yes, Felix, this is Nagisa. Nagisa, this is Felix, Ethan, and Noah. They will be your new crew. Lead by Felix so listen to him."
