CHAPTER 21

[Zayn’s POV]

“What on earth.” Principal Duncan gasped, “What’s wrong with him. Harry, why didn’t you stop him?” Harry snapped his gaze over to him, giving the dirtiest look he could conjure up.

“Are you fucking kidding me right now?” Mr. Styles said bluntly, not censoring his words around us. He walked closer to him, whispering, “How dare you. How fucking dare you.” He spat his cuss. Principal Duncan gave him a saddened look, but Mr. Styles quickly ignored him and directed himself to us, “Where was he coming from?”

I was the one to speak, “Math. He was in extra help.”

“Follow me then.” He sternly said, “And you,” He pointed to Mr. Duncan, “Call Niall’s mother.” He skipped up the stairs – and we followed his suit – and ran down to his classroom. Mr. Style’s strides were long. He was eager to get to his classroom. It was obvious now to Principal Duncan that him and Niall were together. There was no hiding it anymore.

“Where the fu-” Mr. Styles shouted as he entered his classroom, but he cut himself off as no one was there. It was completely empty. Liam, Eleanor and I watched as he walked into it, hesitating when he looked down to his desk. He picked up a note and brought it to his eyes, reading it over and over again. A small curse escaped his lips as he crumpled the paper up and threw it in the trash bin next to his desk. He pushed us out and turned the lights off, locking the door behind him, “Lunch’s almost over. Go to class.” He sounded defeated. The three of us watched as he walked down the hall, a slight slouch to his back.

I felt Liam and Eleanor turn away and go down the other end of the hall, “C’mon Zayn.” El’s voice sounded, “He’s right, class’ll start any minute.” I took one step back but peeked into the darkened class, eyeing the trash bin beside the desk.

After school Eleanor followed me to my locker, “So what did you need, hmm?” She leaned up against my side and watched as I looked around. I licked my lips and turned to her,

“I need to get into Mr. Styles’ room. I have to get that note. I need your help.” She considered my words but soon nodded, “Great. Have a bobby pin?” She nodded again and handed me one from her hair.

“I’ll even let you keep it after you’re done because I’m a sweetheart.” She teased and pushed off the lockers, “We ought to wait though, until everyone’s gone. I say give it a few minutes.” I nodded in agreement, she had a point, “Why didn’t you ask Liam? Or even Louis?”

“None of them have bobby pins, love.” I teased, “Besides Louis texted Liam. They’re meeting at some convenience store to talk. Liam didn’t really tell me much.” I shrug, not really knowing what to expect with the two of them, “But we should get going, yeah?” El nods as I start down the hall. Her and mine’s locker were just up the hall from Mr. Styles’ classroom.

“It’d be best to just act casual. I learned that from the television.” He giggled to herself as I bent her bobby pin and walked up to the door, sticking it in the small hole on the knob’s surface. Within seconds, the door clicked open and I gently push it open. Eleanor watches me as I walk to the bin beside the desk and pick up the paper Mr. Styles crumpled earlier. She meets me half way, watching my mouth drop as I read the note, “What does it say, Zayn?”

I stutter, not able to really say much, so I show her the note, which rewards me with a small gasp from her end.

[Niall’s POV]

I didn’t understand. I didn’t want to understand. Everything was confusing me. Harry’s flinch made so much sense to me now. I had just assumed he flinched as a result of his pure hatred for the man, but it was so much more than that. He thought he was finished with Eric Logans, but he ended up coming back. He ended up replacing Harry. He ended up seeing things that Harry and I didn’t want anyone to see. But yet, here he was, back in Harry’s life and I was to blame.
