Chapter 6

I ran right into my class out of breath and went straight to the seat next to Lisa. She raised her eyebrow at me.

"What was after you?" she asked looking at me with curiosity.

"Nothing," I breathed out.

I slumped on the desk in front of mine which was Yahya's desk, there was no way I was sitting at my previous seat. I sat there trying to catch my breath and stop the horrible thoughts wanting to burst out from me.

"Hey, you're shaking are you ok darling?" said Lisa patting my back her southern voice next to my ear. The tears were close to falling but what hurt the most was my weakness for it all to affect me. For something that happened five years ago to have this kind of hold on me. I tried to take deep breaths to shake my mind off the Nightmarish thoughts. But the air was stuck in my throat I was becoming short of breath. I could see my thirteen-year-old self-running for dear life, I could hear the heavy feet of my chasers. Hear the laughter and words spilling from their mouths.

" Zainab, can you hear me?" asked Lisa's frantic voice. She shook my shoulder to get my attention.

"It's ok she'll be fine just give her a bit of time," said Yahya's soothing voice.

"I don't want people to notice it'll be fine, though I don't know what could have caused this anxiety attack," explained Yahya to Lisa.

I concentrated on their murmuring voices to focus my mind. Slowly I gasped taking a huge breath. Yahaya rubbed my back to help me breath better after a few minutes I regained my regular breathing. I looked up from the desk and found Yahya's hazel eyes staring at me worriedly.

"I'm fine. I just ......" I trailed off

" I know, don't worry. You gonna be ok?" he asked.

I nodded. He looked at me once then went and took my seat seeing as I was in his seat.

"I'm too worried about you to even be mad that you took your hot brothers seat. You know he is my eye candy in this boring class" sighed Lisa next to me.

I giggled.

"You're unbelievable. I thought you said you didn't have a crush on him?" I said.

" I never have crushes, besides I know your brother is one fine piece of meat that I gotta keep my paws off of," she giggled wiggling her eyebrows.

"Please, will you get your mind out of the trash. That's my brother you're talking about" I said sternly but smiled.

"Yes I'm aware he is your brother what do you think is stopping me from jumping him," she said with a huff.

"Oh is that it...... I thought it might have had to do with the incident last year," I fake coughed.

She blushed crimson.

"ZAI," she screeched.

I giggled.

"I thought we would never mention that incident again," she said horrified.

"You know what surprises me is the fact my brother acts like it never happened," I said thoughtfully.

"Can we drop the subject," she sighed.

"What's even more surprising is that you even managed to pull a stunt like that your first year here," I giggled taking a sip from my water bottle.

"What surprises me is that you haven't gone for him. Sure he is your brother and all but it's not like your blood," she huffed her face still red.

"That is disgusting. Technically he is like a blood brother we just don't share the same blood. I explained it to you before" I said embarrassed beyond belief.
