Chapter 3: Blood
The adults stood there having a silent conversation amongst themselves. I couldn't help but feel that whatever decision that they decided on, it wouldn't be a good one for me.
"I guess it won't hurt," Uncle Ahmed finally agreed.
"It's settled then," said my father with a grin.
"I'm sorry," interrupted Yunus looking not sorry at all.
"But, I'm afraid I won't be able to come. I have work that I need to get back to," he explained shrugging on his leather jacket.
"Tonight," asked my aunt looking at him worriedly.
"Yes, I need to go over those shipment details, and I was expecting a call from Noah," He said.
"Can't you do all that tomorrow? You need a break every now and then honey," she said gently touching his shoulder
I felt a pang in my heart, was that how mothers were? Did they always worry like that?
"I can't, I have other things I need to get to tomorrow, besides I do take breaks" he insisted.
She stood on her tiptoes and ruffled his hair looking at him fondly. I felt a jolt of jealousy, I wanted a mom who would ruffle my hair and worry about me like that.
"Not nearly enough," she said with a pout.
Then he did something that had my head spinning and my knees going weak. He smiled, the prince of ice actually smiled. And not just any smile but the most genuine smile that had ever grazed anyone's lips. Ladies and gentlemen this is a day that should be marked in history, I inwardly chuckled.
"I promise I'll take a break and go to bed early the minute I finish talking to Noah, sounds fair ?" he asked with a grin, he looked as if he was appeasing a child.
"Fine," she huffed trying to look annoyed.
"Can you say Salaam to him for us, as well as Kawthar and the triplets? I haven't seen them in forever, they're the most adorable little kids in the world," she gushed with a smile.
"I'll tell them you said Salaam," he said giving her a kiss on the cheek
"It was wonderful to see all of you again," he said politely to the rest of us
"Good night Yunus, drive safely," said my dad with a smile.
"Make sure you put the documents you sign in my office, so I can see them," said uncle Ahmed with a frown.
He nodded once and walked out not glancing my way even ones which irked me a bit. But I shrugged it off. Why would I want him to look at me at all? I didn't want any kind of attention from him, right?
"Well, we better get going as well. We have lots to discuss" said my aunt looking like she had a secret to tell. I didn't know why but I felt I would have something to do with the discussion. I groaned, why couldn't my life be simple for once.

All through the ride home, I was thinking of ways to get out of movie night. To go to bed early and stay away from the adults. But so far nothing seemed to come to my head. Yahya noticed my discomfort
"Relax it won't be so bad," he reassured me
"Easy for you to say, your not the one that's about to walk into the lion's den without armor," I huffed
