call of forest

"you don't forgot nothing, right? your snacks? your spare clothes? what about bug repellent?" asked jungkook's brother putting his own shoes. he stood up and grab his key car above the shoe cabinet and turn around to see jungkook all set and ready. 

jungkook sighed and shook his head, chuckling a little, "all set, mom." he then picked up his bag and put on his shoes, following the latter. 

wonwoo, jungkook's brother chuckled too at jungkook's response,"this punk.. anyway, hurry up, we don't want you to be late on your first field trip!"

"why do you sound more excited than me, jeez," wheezed jungkook, patting his brother. wonwoo groaned and flick jungkook's forehead lightly, "because this is your first field trip and you can finally have some refreshment time."

they both went out from their apartment and went to the parking lot, driving their way to jungkook's school while talking about random small stuffs on their way.

"hey, kook," said wonwoo. 

the called man only hummed for respons, looking outside the window car. 

"have fun there, okay? and call me if anything happened. don't wander off anywhere alone," said wonwoo, patting jungkook's head and proceed to ruffle it. 

jungkook just stayed silent at wonwoo's word until they arrived at his school on time. 

wonwoo dropped jungkook off and bid him last goodbye before he was instructed by his teacher to get into the bus. 

jungkook sat on the middle row, window seat, with no one to be exact. the fact that he had no friend doesn't really bother him. he sometimes thought that, it would be better just to be alone. 

and no, it wasn't because he wanted to be like those edgy kids, but for him to build a relationship with someone means giving his trust to the other. which jungkook afraid to do after all of his past. 

'it's not like i haven't try, it's just because i know the what's worst outcome it could've be if i let my walls crumble again.'

jungkook would be lying if he said he wasn't lonely. he does sometimes wonder what would he be if he have a circle of friends like the others. hang out? study group? eating lunch at school together? he did fancy those thought, but sadly, no one really wants to befriend with a loser like him. 

he sighed and decided to just plug on his handsfree, and shuffle through his playlist the entire journey. at least, the scenery was pleasant enough to his eyes. enough to distract him from his own thoughts and drifted him to sleep.

jungkook regretted coming to the field trip. it wasn't any better than just dwelling inside his room playing with his phone and games. no, correct that, it was worse. not only he can't associate with people, his phone decided to betray him too by giving him no signal, at all. 

he put his phone back in his pocket and just sighed quietly, not that anyone care. jungkook wondered what is the point of having school trip anyway. He remembered it's just that he got no friend to make memories in this trip with, heck, it'll be easier to say everyone here hate him.  it won't be anything memorable or special for him. 

as jungkook was busy with his thought, the class has made the tent arrangement by themselves. as if the life hates him to the guts, jungkook was left to share the tent with his bullies. 

"sharing tent with the fag?" snickered on of them, mocking those who has to share the tent with jungkook. "careful not to get the fag virus, will ya? hahahaha."

jungkook who heard the conversation clenched his fist in his pocket and looked away.

'i knew it, should've just not come.'

"fuck off you fag, go sleep outside or anywhere. don't get fucking close to me," said one of them followed by snickering and look of disgust thrown at him. he throw one of the pillow and blanket to jungkook, "be glad i at least give you those."

jungkook tighten his jaw, wanting to say no. but he know very well what will happened to him if he does so. "y-yes..," said jungkook quietly as he went out of the already cramped tent. 

he clutched onto the blanket tightly as he stepped outside. it was midnight and the wind isn't really that friendly. he dropped his pillow and blanket besides the tent and just sit beside it. after all of that, he didn't feel sleepy at all. 

his thought was wandering suddenly a rather harsh wind was blown to him. he sighed and stood up, 'i know it's stupid, but let's just wander around for a bit. i need some fresh air anyway.'

jungkook isn't that careless as he about to wander the unfamiliar forest by himself. he grabbed a rope long enough from the supply box outside the tent and tied it around one of the nearest tree. he took the other end with him, using it as a guide so he can comeback later to the camp and began to walk into the forest.

he thought that the forest was a bit dull at first, but as he went further as far as the rope would allow, jungkook found himself was at ease. the scenery, the scent of wood and earth, and the gushing wind enveloped him. 

yet, he can't get the sad thought out of him. he thought that life was sure unfair, and how good it will be if he can just disappear from life. 

after all that slow walk and thoughts, he found himself near a rather small river and the rope has tightened, meaning it was the furthest he can go. he then sat down under one of the tree to take  break and admiring the scenery.

it was dark at night, but never he ever see such a beautiful scenery in his life as the river reflecting the light from the moon, making the night bright. the river itself is calm, some fishes were swimming in it. 'maybe, this is not that bad at all.'

jungkook heaves a sigh and stood up, deciding that it's time to go back to the camp. it was short moments of relief for him, to be able enjoying the scenery after his eyes. he then tugged on the rope once again, walking back on to the rope direction.

when he finally reached the end of it, he didn't found any trace of camp anywhere.
