Unexpected Love

I hate him

"Mom.. There's something that I just have to ask.. I feel like I already know the answer but.. I have to hear it from you."

"What baby?"

Christopher cries and breathes heavy.

Jessica wipes his face and holds his hand.

"The baby you lost... Was that because of dad?"

Jessica paused. She didn't want to answer that question.

"Mom.. Tell me.  Did my dad kill my sister?"

Jessica still doesn't know how to answer.

"TELL ME!"

"Sweetie, let's not talk about this."

"Mom.."

Jessica nods and a tear falls down her cheek.

Christopher sobs and Jessica holds him close to her.

"I hate him mom! I hate him!"

"Don't hate him, baby."

"Mom why not?! He made you lose a baby! I hate him for doing that to you!"

"He was drunk, he didn't mean to."

"That doesn't make it right!"

"I know... I know it doesn't.

Sweetie, your dad has tried bettering himself for you."

"I know but it never lasts. I always think it will but it doesn't and I'm so tired of being disappointed. I have you and grandma.. And now Evan and Isabella... I don't need him, momma."

Christopher laid on her chest and Jessica took a deep breath.

After all the harm Sam caused, she still never wanted Christopher to hate him.  However, he was getting older now and she couldn't keep everything hidden from him forever.

"I'm so sorry for everything he has done to hurt you.
I'm sorry about the baby.. I'm so sorry!" Christopher sobs.

"Shh.. It's okay, sweet boy.  She's in a better place.  She knows how much we love her and she's watching over us.. Always."

Jessica lightly rocks him and gently rubs his back.

Jessica and Christopher spend the rest of their weekend watching movies inside. It was too cold to go out, but neither one minded.  They enjoyed the relaxing weekend just being together.

On Monday Jessica and Christopher started their long long drive back to New Orleans.

"We're home!" Jessica says walking into the house.

"Oh my gosh!  Mama's back!" Evan runs over and hugs her tightly.

"Heh!  Rough weekend?"

"I just missed you so much!  I love you!" He says in whimper making Jessica laugh.

"Did you guys have fun?"

"We did!  It was nice." Christopher smiles.

"Where's my Bellie!  I missed her so much!"

"She's in the playpen."

"Isabella!  Mommy's home, sweet girl!" Jessica runs over to her.

Isabella looks up and gives her a big happy smile.
