Look into my eyes and tell me what you see
Do you see the same thing i see when i look at me
As i look in the mirror i see a strong black woman beaten broken yet proud
I see a strong black woman willing to run through every test and trials
When I look in the mirror i dont see the pain life tried to throw at me
Just a beautiful smile and bald head thats what i see
I dont see the tear that soak my pillow at night
Nor the torment from past lost and relationship fight
As i lookin the mirror i see me standing tall
Not slouched over from all the negative words from my past at all
I dont see a failure with 2 kids living in the hood
I see a strong mother stepping up to make the life i live good
I dont see a past addict running for one more night of fun
I see a future wife cooking cleaning working to get the job done
When i look in the mirror i hear the word moma told me
Stand for something be different not conformed to this reality
I dont see that little sinner girl that fought with God over past deaths
I see a Faithful Godly woman striving for spiritual wealth
Look me in my eye and tell me what you see
Do u see the little quiet girl that had to duck and dodge the bully
As i look in the mirror through these eyes of pain
I remember how far ive come and how much ive gained
No longer do i have to fight no longer do i have to cry
No longer do i have to hide myself from your judging eye
Moma once said "my life is and open book"
But do you truly have the strength and patience  to open me up to take a look
Cause once u get in theres to turning back
Theres pains and struggles in there that i had to carry on my back
From being used and abuse by all the different people
To coming up with with snakes that i felt was my people
Theres nightmares of boogie men that i now know dont exist
To monsters in my closet and cutting my wrist
There alot of pain but theres also pleasure
From moma bringing me home tons of book my greatest treasure
Theres road trips vacations and lots of family fun
From driving down to florida for fun in the sun
Theres staying up all night just to meet santa
To the crazy storm stories late night from nana
Theres so much holy ghost power filling the church
To Granny coming to get me for my first day of work
There having new hobbies besides reading books
To going on adventure through the neighborhood  sneaking in the barn for just one look.
You see the good out weighed the bad to keep me out of depression
But moma taught me to strive for greatness dont suffer under lifes oppression
So when i look im the mirror its not pain and torment i see
Its a strong black women striving to be all i can be
