THE BRIGHT MORNING sunrise woke Athena Summers up as soon as it reached her eyes. She hopped out of bed with a giddy spring in her step as she got ready for the day. September 1st has been the only day on her mind for as long as she could remember. Finally attending Hogwarts as a student and not as her Godmother's tag along was a dream come true for the small brunette.

"Athena, hurry up!"

"Coming Minerva!" The girl gave a hurried reply as she left her room.

Athena ran down the stars practically flying as she did so, Minerva would always say if she ran any faster she'd be in the air. Athena's skills thankfully transferred onto her broomstick, and she had been flying for as long as she could remember. It was always part of the plan. Get sorted into Gryffindor, play quidditch, become Captain in 6th year and graduate a Gryffindor legend just like her parents.

The constant anticipation kept her jittery as she ate her breakfast. It was her typical jam and toast, Minerva wasn't exactly the perfect homemaker, but she did her best all things considered. Raising the rambunctious Athena Summers was no easy task.

Her day was spent wallowing around, impatiently waiting for the time when she could meet the other arriving students at the docks. The girl looked at herself in the mirror, practicing how she would introduce herself.

"Hi, I'm Athena Summers."

"Hello there, I'm Athena Summers!"

"Bonjour Je m'appelle Athena Summers."

None exactly fitted the girls expectations, so she concluded on hoping her instincts would take over and not allow her to completely embarrass herself.

She then sat and fixed and prodded her hair in every possible she knew how, Athena wanted to looked presentable, settling on leaving her hair down after every other hairstyle looked like a hot mess.

By the time she finally felt ready to go, dusk was nearing and Minerva had already left for the school.

Athena had always been good at reading people, but she was also was incredibly opinionated so her thoughts of her peers were already forming as she approached the docks, it wasn't her best trait, but it was there nonetheless. She saw a group of girls with bows in their hair and immediately turned away. A group of obvious pure bloods came next, then a group of boys who seemed to be soaking wet, practically rolling with laughter, at what Athena couldn't quite figure out. Finally she saw a boy and girl who seemed to be sitting quietly. The red head looking around with curiosity at her new surroundings.

"Now that seems more my speed." Athena shrugged and made her way over to the two who were exiting the boat.

"Hello! I'm Athena" The girl held out her hand, which was shaken with a smile from the red haired girl. She introduced herself as Lily Evans and her friend as Severus Snape.

"So why don't you ride the train?" Lily questioned as the three approached the school. It was a question Athena had anticipated.

"I live here," Athena answered simply, "My god mother is Professor McGonagall."

"Wow, you must know a lot about Hogwarts!" Lily smiled as they continued on towards the Great Hall.

"Yeah, you could say that" The girl shrugged, "It's always just been home to me."

The three continued to walk into the Great Hall together, but Severus had yet to say anything even after the several minutes they had spent together. His scowl was enough to drive the brunette in the other direction.

"Don't mind him Athena, some boys were picking on him on the train and he's in a bad mood," Lily noticed Athena's face and tried to make him sound better, "He's not usually like this."

Athena gave a hesitant smile as she still wasn't sure about the boy, but she at least pretended she understood. After all Lily was her first new friend, and she didn't want to make a bad impression.

Once the group of first years reached the outside of the hall, Athena could barely contain her excitement. She had been to the school and the Great Hall many a time, but never as a student. The only thing running through her mind was Gryffindor and her parents. Athena gave a large smile as she saw Minerva approaching. Her Godmother explained to all the other first years that they would be going through the doors and up to a podium to be sorted into one of four houses. Some kids looked confused, while others had confident smiles that matched Athenas.

"Alright, follow me." Minerva nodded, leading the group into the Hall.

"Let's begin the sorting!" The headmaster Dumbledore stepped forward and motioned towards the approaching first years.

"Bryce, Amelie!"

"RAVENCLAW"

"Down, Tyler!"

"SLYTHERIN"

"Evans, Lily!"

"GRYFFINDOR"

The table erupted with cheers after gaining their new first year. After a while they finally got to Athenas name. Butterflies were building in her stomach, but were eased when Minerva gave her a small nod.

"Summers, Athena"

The girl quickly made her way to the stool. Her small frame hopped up into the seat and allowed the hat to be placed on her head, after only a few seconds—

"GRYFFINDOR."

A smile spreads across her face and Athena ran over to sit next to Lily, who had saved her spot after hearing her keenness to be sorted there as-well. Severus had been sorted into Slytherin and Athena could see Lily's face fall when she glanced at him. Before the food had arrived, which was most anticipated by Athena who knew how good it was, four boys sat down opposite them. The girl recognized them after a moment as the boys soaking wet from the lake.

"Hello!" A boy with unruly black hair smiled and extended a hand, "I'm James, James Potter."

"Lily Evans" The red haired girl shook it.

"Athena Summers"

The other two boys had equal smiles on their face and introduced themselves as Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. Then Athena's eyes traveled to the last boy who had a grin plastered on his face as he looked at them.

"Sirius Black, charmed to meet you"

"Athena Summers" She held out her hand for him to shake. He casually ignored her hand, which took her aback at first, but continued a with charming smile.

"Like the goddess?" Remus asked, changing the topic.

"Yep, thats me" She cheekily replies.

"Hmm goddess, I think I like that" The long haired boy smirked as he looked her over.

And that's how it all started, a girl with the name of a goddess and four boys with a knack for trouble.
