After I got over the shock of him leaving, I went back and sat on the bed, mulling over what he told me. Basically, it was my fault that I was this way and I had no one else to blame BUT myself. And if I wanted to get my memories back, I had to find another way? The only way I knew was sleep with Eli, but that wasn't happening. He'd probably laugh at my attempt to seduce him from the way he was feeling right now.
"Mommy?" I looked up and saw Alesandro peaking his head in, a worried look on his face. He walked over to me, his hands behind his back. "Why are you crying?"
"What?" I touched my cheek and it came back wet. Oh.
"Daddy told me to give you these, in case you teleport and forget them." He brought his hands forward, holding my keys and wallet.
"Thank you." I took them from him and he hesitantly smiled at me.
"You're welcome. I don't want you to cry, Mommy." Alesandro said before jumping up and wrapping his arms around me. I breathed out a laugh and hugged him back.
"Okay, I'll stop crying." I told him and he pressed his small lips against my cheek.
"Will you visit me tomorrow?"
I brushed back the hair that was falling in his eyes and nodded. "I will." He squealed with excitement and scrambled to the ground, dashing towards the door.
"Grandma, mommy's gonna visit me tomorrow!" I heard him yell and his voice got fainter as he ran down the stairs. I couldn't stop the smile the spread across my face and I grabbed my keys and wallet, deciding to head home.
Alesandro popped up out of nowhere, white smoke surrounding him. "Forgot to say bye. Bye!" He waved and then disappeared. I chuckled and closed my eyes, thinking of my house before teleporting there.
I sighed deeply, throwing my keys on the counter and I walked into the kitchen, stopping abruptly when I saw Damien there, munching away on my food.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I asked, not in the mood for his bullshit.
"Eating." He responded, taking a bite out of my steak. The steak I was just coming for. He squinted his eyes at me. "Were you crying?"
"What? No!" I lied, touching my cheek to make sure there were no tears left.
"You're lying. That's so weird." He said in-between bites. "I didn't know we could cry. Then again, I never had a reason to cry. I also don't know what it's like to be a demon, then a human, then a demon again."
"Just leave." I said, tossing my wallet on the coffee table. I paused, a thought coming to me. "Why didn't you tell me it was my fault that I was this way?"
Damien smirked, raising an eyebrow. "Where's the fun in that?" He asked and I rolled my eyes. "How's operation get-back-your-memories going?"
"Fuck off, Damien." I mumbled. "I'm gonna take a nap."
"Want me to join?" I could hear the underlying meaning in his tone as I walked up the stairs and I just shook my head, not bothering to entertain him.
After a quick shower, I threw on some panties and a t-shirt and slid into bed, falling asleep almost immediately.
