21 - Big Confession and Painful Effects

It's not weird and awkward this time.

Maybe because the night ended with a punch in the face, not a kiss.

Either way, nothing is said between the Lauren and Camila. It's a comfortable silence indicating that they're fine with how things are going.

Except they're not.

They've just been ignoring everything all week.

"I swear to God Lauren, if you sigh one more time I'm kicking you out of the room." Vero turned in her chair and glared at the brunette. It's not like this situation has been uncommon this year, but she really has a paper she needs to finish and the exasperated sighing really breaks her concentration.

Lauren mumbled out an apology and turned onto her side to face the other girl. Vero had already coaxed the story out of the brunette when she saw her hand was all bruised a day ago.

"I'm not even sure what you're moping about. It sounds like she's going to dump the guy anyway."

"She probably won't though." The brunette said in a small voice.

"You white girls have more drama daily than my whole family has ever had. Maybe even more than all of Florida."

Lauren raised her eyebrow, "All of Florida? Really, Vero."

"Okay, maybe not all of Florida. But I swear I think you would all explode if there wasn't some sort of drama."

Lauren rolled her eyes and the other girl gave her an unimpressed look. "Well, think whatever you want, just keep the excessive sighing down. I need to get shit done."

Lauren sighed out of spite and grinned. Her phone vibrated and she quickly picked it up, she scrunched her eyebrows as she read the message from Luis.

You punched Austin and didn't even tell me? I need the story pronto I'm coming over!

She knew her roommate really wouldn't appreciate him coming over. She sighed for real this time and put on her boots, setting out to meet Luis before he got to her door.

When Lauren left Vero just shook her head and muttered. "White girl drama."

"So what are you going to do about Austin?" Normani asked the brunette as they were mulling around the kitchen making their lunch.

Camila sighed. She really didn't want to think about the guy yet. She knew everything that happened, the whole relationship even was just wrong but she didn't have it in her to talk to him yet.

"I don't want to talk to him."

"But what about when you do talk to him?"

"I don't want to be with him, okay?" Camila snapped, throwing down the knife she was using to put mayo on her sandwich.

Normani flinched at the noise and tone in Camila's voice. She wasn't expecting a reaction like this but she would be lying if she said it wasn't what she was hoping for.

"Okay." She said softly. "I'm not trying to be pushy, I'm just trying to look out for you. I wish I did that before you started dating Austin to be honest and I feel like a terrible friend for that."

Camila turned around, finally facing the brunette. "Normani, don't even say that. You're not a terrible friend. You're there for me all the time and I honestly don't know what I would do without you."

"I just want you to be happy, Mila. You haven't been happy for a good while and I just want to see you happy."

"I know. Thanks, Mani I know you're always looking out for me." She smiled. The smaller brunette wasn't about to tell her about what she talked about with her mom a few days ago. Yes they talked about it with Dinah and Ally and she admitted she needed something from Lauren to know her feelings, but she wasn't ready to admit that she was already considering that she might already have strong feelings for the brunette.
