Forever young
Preface
The cold air swirling around me as I stumbled down the dark street I really shouldn't have worn my new high heels my mind foggy from the few to many drinks id had tonight I was trying to walk home from my friends sweet 16th she had just moved a few streets down Claire and I had been friends for about four years now but I was supposed to be home at 12pm at the latest of course in my state it would probably take half an hour instead of ten minutes but I would never make it home instead my life would be changed forever..................
Chapter one
Frozen
I couldn't walk strait anymore I was way to drunk I decided to sit down on the kerb there were no cars out and every one in town would be asleep I tried to pull off my heels I was just out side a small collection of shops I could feel the damp ground wetting my new dress it was usually really warm in the del ray California area but it had rained early this morning so the ground was still wet I was still sitting on the kerb when I saw a cop car turn around the corner and coming my way I tried to get up as fast as I could caring my purple heels in one hand I half ran to the alley way between two shops if that cop saw me I would go to the cell for the night under age drinking in a liquor ban area and all I waited in the mouth of the alleyway until the cop passed me ''idiot'' I said to my self more of a slur than anything I decided it would be a good idea not to walk down the street but as I turned around to walk down the alley way I stopped in my tracks a man was standing at the other end of the alley way only a few meters away I swallowed hard I couldn't move but a light breeze blew one of my red curls in my face and I automatically pulled it out of the way not taking my eyes off of the tall man who was now smiling but other from his smile I couldn't see the rest of his face ''leah you know young girls really shouldn't be out this late at night''- he paused to take a few steps closer-''and drunk as well im guessing your not 18 yet my dear'' his voice smooth like soft silk I tried to step back but stumbled I steadied myself against the wall ''how do you know my name?'' I asked in a quite shaky voice he tilted his head and a light flashed on his black hair ''oh leah ive been watching you for a while I know quite a lot about you'' I started to shake ''why?'' my voice catching and he was at my side in a instant his cold hand on my cheek ''sssssshh leah don't be afraid my names Pablo by the way'' he looked at my face reading the fear in my green eyes ''why are you here?'' my voice only a whisper ''I was sent as a favor to a friend of mine but don't worry it wont hurt for long'' he picked up my wrist and I didn't know what he would do next the next thing I knew he bit my arm but in the next second he was tackled and I fell on the ground gasping for breath I could hear growling but my wrist was bleeding bad now and I was feeling light headed from the loss of blood and the amount of alcohol im not sure what happened because I slowly drifted into unconsciousness ............
I came to a few times I was in incredible pain ''you need to drink this ok'' a male voice with a slight English accent said to me I couldn't open my eyes some thing cold was pressed to my mouth I just did what I was told it tasted like salty melted metal I groaned in distaste ''I know it tastes bad please just drink'' the male voice said and I did but soon after I wish I hadn't. I came in and out of consciousness the pain had tripled and I now couldn't move or scream I could faintly hear a car motor but I wasn't sure if it was real ''im going to move you ok'' the voice said sounding as if from 100 meters away and as if I could say no but when I was lifted every inch of my body alit with fire and I was swallowed by the darkness..................
Im not sure how long I was out for all I remember after the immense pain I was aware of being moved into a car and hoping the pain would end soon.
When I woke fully for the first time in I don't know how long. I didn't want to open my eyes I was scared to what id find but I could hear some one whispering ''what am I going to do elice'' the male voice with a English accent said ''you brought her over you have to look after her but carmen and I will help until she's better but then you can take her to live with you'' elice said in a soft voice ''nick'' said a high pitched female voice ''yeah'' he replied ''can I go check on her'' she said ''carmen just be quite when you go up stairs ok and take her some food'' I sat up quickly ''upstairs?'' I said to myself I couldn't have heard them from a second story could I? I thought to myself I looked around the room I was lying on a big four posted bed in a big t-shirt and p.j shorts the room seemed small with a little floor space between the dresser and computer desk I pushed my hand through my hair which was most likely a big red mess a light knock on the door pulled me away from my scan of the room ''are you awake'' asked the high pitched female voice belonging to carmen ''yes'' I think she squealed but I couldn't be sure ''can I come in'' she said sounding excited ''um I guess'' I said wondering why I was here and not at home when carmen walked through the door she was smiling from ear to ear she looked very young maybe 15 her hair was about waist length and a wavy brown she was very small with a round face and bright blue eyes she had a tray of food in her hands and she placed it on the bedside table and then sat on the edge of the bed ''how are you feeling'' she asked her smile growing bigger ''um a little sore and confused'' I said looking at her ''do you remember who you are'' she asked ''yeah leah rose damson from del ray California'' my voice sounding different than I remember ''do you remember what happened to you leah'' her smile faded into a hard line images of Pablo flashed through my mind ''what happened to Pablo'' I asked carmen looked away for a second ''he got what was coming to him'' her voice had a sharp edge to it as she looked down at her hands ''what do you mean carmen'' I asked and she looked up at me her face surprised ''you know my name'' her voice confused ''I heard you nick and elice talking before you came up'' her smile re-appeared ''what really happened to him'' I asked again ''what he was going to do wasn't right we couldn't let him walk away'' Carmen's face grew grim as she peeked up at me ''what was he going to do'' I asked in a stern voice hoping since im about a year older than her she would listen ''we think he was going to take you to a man called victor who has a certain reputation and were trying to find out why he picked you'' ''what kind of reputation does this victor have'' she looked at me I guess to check my reaction I made sure my face showed no emotion ''he picks certain humans with potential that could be useful to him he tried to get nick a few times but elice has stopped him'' Carmen's voice grew quiet ''why would he want nick or me for that matter'' I tried not to sound angry ''nick has a certain talent we don't know why he would pick you yet. Are you hungry?'' she asked changing the subject I nodded I wasn't hungry but I didn't know how long it had been since id eaten last carmen picked up the tray and placed it beside me it was full of food that I loved but it didn't smell good ''ew yuck whats wrong with that'' it didn't taste good either ''try this instead'' carmen said handing me a bottle ''thanks'' it tasted a lot better than the food I just ate I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand ''what is this'' I said staring at the red stain on my pale hand ''why am I so white?'' I asked looking from my hand to carmen she smiled showing all her teeth four fangs included my eyes bugged out ''whats wrong with me'' I asked on the verge of hysterics ''your no longer human its blood in the bottle you're a..........a vampire the reason for the fangs and pale skin'' I almost fell off the bed from shock ''but vampires aren't real they cant be who did this to me I cant have become this by myself'' the shock numbed me but I could feel the anger building ''leah please don't get angry at him he had to otherwise victor would have gotten you'' I was standing before I even knew I wanted to ''where is he'' I asked her sternly ''please leah don't hurt him'' she was getting angry now as she stood near the door but I was out the door a red haze covered my sight ''nick'' I said my voice lethal I stopped at the top of the stairs I could hear him and elice in the bottom room beside the door talking about hunting I was in the door way within half a second elice and nick looked up surprised ''hello leah how are you feeling'' she asked a smile played on her lips it i only just took in what elice looked like straight white teeth blond hair she looked like a house wife I didn't answer I was staring at nick ''you did this to me'' I accused him ''leah calm down'' carmen said trying to grab my arm but it was no use ''you basted'' I yelled at him as I flew through the air and tackled him to the ground my hands around his throat ''you think I would be alright with this'' I screamed at him I could feel hands grabbing at me but I was to strong ''I know your angry leah im sorry'' nick gasped ''you killed me you had no right to take my life but you did fuck you bloodsucker'' I yelled on the verge of breaking down ''your not really dead'' elice said trying to calm me ''I should be im just a monster now'' my voice faded out and I let carmen pull me off nick a hundred images went through my mind killing and blood never dieing I would never see my family again as I folded in on myself carmen took me back up stairs and sat me on the bed I just felt numb ''will I ever see my family again?'' I asked my voice dull ''no not likely I know how hard this is but every thing will work out I promises'' I took that in and added it to the pile of deal with later my brain just wasn't working ''what can we do'' ''well we can make ourselves look human we drink blood and have venom and fangs some of us can fly or go invisible and even fewer of us have stronger powers like nicks'' ''how old are you?'' I asked after a moment ''im 120 years old'' I didn't respond ''well im really 15 but ive been a vamp for 120 years'' ''you were a very unusual looking human I must say'' I took a deep breath ''what do you mean'' I managed to say without any curiosity ''well most red heads have pale skin, blue eyes and freckles yet you have green eyes and had tanned skin plus your hairs unusual its not orange but a deep red'' ''thanks I guess, when will I be able to make myself look human'' I asked trying to find out as much as I could while still in shock ''that all depends on you but we will help'' I took a deep breath and shut my eyes ''are you ok leah'' carmen asked ''apart from just finding out im practically dead I cant eat ill have to kill so I can continue to exist some random guys after me and im a pasty ginger for eternity'' the last one didn't really matter but still carmen stifled a laugh ''you won't be white forever. I can't do any thing about the killing part that how we live and well get victor'' ''what happens when we go in the sun'' I asked after a long moment ''we perish into sand that's why we prefer to live in such a cold place'' ''where are we?'' I some how knew deep down inside that I was safe ''anima Alaska'' that pushed me over the edge I couldn't speak reality set in and I broke down after a while carmen left and at some point my body shut down and I fell into a deep sleep.........
