Your POV
I clench my fingers around my backpack strap that laid on top of my shoulders. Walking slowly, I enter the school grounds. Taking a look at the jocks, sitting around a table. My mind instantly goes to Jeff, wondering why I haven't seen him since the party.
I take my phone out of my pocket, entering the password and pressing the well-known phone app. I tap Jeff's contact, and put the phone slightly below my ear. Each ring feels like an hour long, my concern increasing rapidly. I hear his sweet voice as it directs me to his voicemail.
Letting the phone slide into my pocket, I see Clay in the distance. Not even a second later, my feet start to move towards him.
"Clay, hold up" I say, reaching my destination.
"Hey y/n, how are you not sad?" He says, looking at the school's floor.
"What do you mean?" My head filled with questions.
"You don't know?"
"I don't know what!?!?" My patience clearly gone.
"I have to go" He turns his feet, and drifts off.
"What in the actual hell" I whisper to myself, noticing every single eye on me.
Each eye filled with pity and.....hurt? I furrow my eyebrows, walking into the building. Swiftly putting my locker code, I grab my books getting ready for another long school day.
The school news blast through the hallways, every kid stopping to hear. My eyes find Clay's as he finds mine, he mouthes a small 'Sorry'
Firmly closing my locker door, I walk towards him, wanting answers. But not before I hear the worst news of my life. My backpack slides off, making a loud noise boom through the hallway.
I feel my tears threatening to free themselves, and I let them. I walk backwards, till my back hits the wall. Slowly sliding down, probably looking like a waterfall. Clutching my knees, I just cry and cry, that's all I can do right now.
I hear people mumbling 'Sorry' and 'I'm sorry for your loss' joined with a few attempts of hugging me.
I feel numb......I feel empty. Don't worry Jeff, I'll join you soon.....I promise
