Chapter 5-From the outside in

Jaycee's POV

The classroom was slowly filling up and Robyn still had her head resting on her arms. Me and Liam weren't saying much when Robyn started mumbling things, she said,

"No, not again" then a little later,

"Never, never, always no" a few seconds later, she stiffened. We both looked at her quickly and exchanged worried glances.

"Bunny, are you okay?" I asked, hinting some of my worry in my voice. She didn't respond.

"Bunny!" Liam let out an exasperated cry as she started whimpering, he had always had a small crush on her.

"There's no way out" she moaned, as Miss Demain walked in with a new boy. His head almost immediately snapped in our direction and he looked at Robyn worriedly, which was weird considering he didn't even know her. Liam put his hands on Robyn's shoulders and gently shook them,

"Wake up Bunny" she stiffened again, took a deep breath, and yelled at the top of her voice. I've never heard anyone sound so terrified and desperate in my life.

"HELP!" she screamed, in a flash, the new boy was behind her and lifting her off her chair.

He urgently mumbled something along the lines of, "We need to get her outside"

Suddenly, she screamed, the most blood-curdling panic-ridden scream possible. The whole room was silent, everybody now staring at her, now being held bridal-style in the new boy's arms. He stared at her, looked up and then hurried out the door...

'His' POV

I followed Miss Demain down the corridor of my new school, towards my new registration room, wondering what my new classmates would be like.

"Nearly there now", she said as we approached an open classroom door. I suddenly got slammed with the different waves of emotion that poured out of the classroom, but I was used to it now. I didn't make any obvious reaction, just clenched my fists tightly for a few seconds until I got used to the emotional level in this class. I waited for the level to die down like it usually does, it did to a certain extent, but there was something stronger. I pinpointed two strong emotions coming from three different locations; panic and worry.

We turned into the classroom and I immediately looked round for the bearers of these emotions. I saw a girl with long, brown hair, tied back in a pleat, lying with her head on her arms on the desk, a blonde girl and a muscular boy on either side of her. These were the ones. The emotions were coming off of them in waves so strong, that I struggled to hide the pain it was causing me. The boy put his hands on her shoulders and gently shook her, pleading with her to wake up. She stiffened and the panic radiating off her was almost suffocating me when she shouted out,

"HELP!" This was more than I could take. I rushed over to her, urgently mumbling something about getting her outside, and picked her up bridal-style, feeling slightly self-conscious. Then she screamed. It rippled through her whole body, making her shake. It broke my heart to hear anyone make as terrified a noise as that, but there was something different about this girl as I looked down into her pained face. This was worse. Remembering where I was, I looked around the room at the confused and horrified expressions, then hurried out the door and into the corridor. I could just about remember my way back to the main entrance, and I raced through the automatic doors, only slowing down once I was near the playing field.

Gently, I placed her seemingly fragile body on the grass. She remained motionless, but her panic had calmed down and so had her breathing. I studied her face; although she looked like she had seen a ghost, she still managed to look peaceful and I couldn't help but wonder what colour her eyes were amongst her lovely long hair and full, red lips.

I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and looked up to see the girl's two friends running over towards me. Her breathing picked up again and the panic waves started washing over me again. I didn't know if she was awake yet, but I couldn't help but try and soothe her. Her emotions were affecting me more than normal, the thought of her being in pain, the feeling of knowing she was in pain was overwhelming.

"Shhh," I said, "calm down, its okay" I rubbed her back gently and could feel her calming down a little, but not very much. Her friends approached us and stopped, gasping for breath. When they had recovered, the worry appeared on their faces, and began floating around in the atmosphere.

"Is she okay?"

"Has she said anything else?" they asked.

"No," I replied, "but she's breathing quite quickly and sharply. She doesn't appear to be awake yet" I paused, looking down at her perfect face. "When did she fall asleep?" Asleep in class isn't something I've come across before.

"Just as we got into class, she folded her arms and rested her head on them. That was about five minutes before you came in with miss." Said the girl. Internally, I sighed with relief, I couldn't bear to think of her being that panicked for too long. I saw a flicker of movement and immediately looked back down at her. Her eyes fluttered open and as I gazed into her eyes, I saw raw fear and worry, like nothing I've ever seen before...until she looked at me. Her eyes widened to the point here I thought they would pop out of her head. Awe and...was that...love?...emanated out from her powerfully. She had the warmest eyes I've ever seen, they melted my heart and there and then, I knew that I would do anything to keep that level of panic and fear coming off of her again...

OKay, so let me know what you think, any improvements :) thanks for reading :)
