"When I pulled up to the party, I immediately knew this night would be eventful. There were cars lining up and down the road, people crowding the front lawn, and music booming out the house. Just imagine your typical high school party in the movies and multiply it by ten levels. That's exactly how this party looked from the outside. And the inside? A hundred times more epic than the movies. The movies portrays parties pretty well, but until you're in that party, you never truly know what you're missing out on."

"King! So glad you could make it!" Riley threw her arms around me, the more than likely alcoholic beverage sloshing out of the plastic cup in her hand and landing on my shoulder.
"Thanks for inviting me!" I tried to match her level of enthusiasm. "Have you seen Jameson yet?"
"Don't be so clingy, Kingsley. Give the boy some space! Nobody likes clingy." Riley rolled her eyes, leading me to the kitchen. "Drink?"
"Seriously, Riles? You know I can't drink." I lightly push her arm back. She shrugs before smiling wide.
"Jameson! So glad you could join us." Riley slurred, the alcohol slowly hitting her. "Kingsley here has been asking for you." Riley smirked before handing Jameson a cup of God knows what.
"Riley, Theresa is here!" A female's voice calls out and Riley squeals.
"Hey, Tee!" Riley stumbles off and comes back later with a girl. Her brown hair fell loosely down to her lower back and she looked out of place in her jeans, band tee, and high tops compared to every other girl's revealing dress or skirt. I think she looked amazing. "Group, this is Tee. Tee, this is group." Riley smiles at all of us before squealing and running off again.
-
"Theresa turned out to be really cool, actually. Once we got away from Riley and the rest of the crowd, Theresa came out of her shell and we all got along extremely well. Jameson, Theresa, and I spent majority of the night in Riley's childhood treehouse, laughing and just enjoying ourselves. We all were extremely different but I guess the saying that opposites attract isn't wrong after all."
-
"I'm going to go check on Riley, she seemed a little tipsy earlier." I slid down the decade old slide, brushing the dust off my dress when I stood up.
"Wait up, we'll come with you." Jameson said as he slid down, Theresa following. I got in the middle and tossed my arms around both of their shoulders, walking back inside with them. I scanned the room and looked for Riley.
"Riley!" I smiled as I walked to Riley, handing her a box out of my purse. "Happy birthday, Riles."
"Oh, yeah. Thanks." Riley took the box, opening it. Inside was a locket with the words 'Friends Forever' engraved on the front. There were two pictures inside the locket: a picture of me and Riley on her fifth birthday and then a picture of us from a few weeks ago.
"Do you like it?" I asked, watching her nervously.
"It's alright." Riley shrugged, tossing the box and twirling the necklace around her fingers.
"Really?" I deadpanned. "Just alright?"
"Yes, Kingsley. It's alright. It's just a necklace." Riley started to put the necklace back in her pocket, but I grabbed her arm. "What are you doing?"
"I want my 'alright' necklace back." I started to grab the necklace.
"Sorry, honey. That's not how presents work." Riley held the necklace tight in her hand, her knuckles turning white.
