1.33 The Offer

Finn had left and everyone was pretty on edge now.

Suddenly Cassie woke up.

Nik "Where is our mother?"

He was standing in front of her. 

I stood next to him.

Cassie asked scared "Where am i? what's happening? "

Nik grabbed her throat. 

Cassie gasped, scared. 

I grabbed his wrist but he wouldn't let go "She's only a puppet, Nik, She's innocent"

Elijah "Niklaus, look at her. she has absolutely no idea. "

Cassie asked confused "what are you talking about? who are you?"

I sighed "Cassie, do you remember who i am?"

She looked at me and nodded "Ariana"

I nodded.

Nik "shut up. Stop talking right now. Out mother orchestrates this entire evening just to torture us and then simply vanishes. Why?"

Elijah "what if we are not the only minds she was hoping to poison tonight? "

I grabbed Nik's phone from his pantpocket and called Hayley.

Hayley "Klaus, i'm at Lenore's shop"

Then the line went dead.

I looked at them.

At the Shop.

We walked inside.

Nik "i assume i have the misfortune of speaking to my mother. "

He went to her but she threw dirt in front of him on the ground and he stopped.

Nik "you hid behind your spells like a coward. "

Esther "i did not come here to wage war. "

She did the same to Elijah.

Elijah "everything you do is an act of war. If you touch her, so help me-"

Esther " Hayley is free to go. I've spoken my piece. She knows why i'm here. I have come to heal our family, Elijah. "

Nik "well, that's a grim sentiment coming from you"

He looked to Hayley and me "Go. Now"

At the Compound. 

Hayley and i sat down on the sofas.

I looked at her. 

Nik and Elijah walked in.

Nik "of course she used those damn birds to make her escape."

Elijah asked Hayley "besides mother's offer of rebirth, what else did she say? "

Hayley " i don't know. She rambled a lot. She blamed the two of you for what happened to Hope, to me, to Ariana"

I looked at her, confused  "what?"

Hayley looked at me "The offer of rebirth? she wants you to know that it goes for you too"

I froze. 

Nik "well, i trust you're not thinking of taking her offer"

I looked at Hayley who looked down. 

Nik "Hayley, I'm talking to you"

Hayley stood up and snapped  "what do you want me to say, Klaus? I lost my daughter, so, yeah, when your mother offers to wipe the slate clean, excuse me if i'm tempted. By the way, thanks for your help tonight, Elijah. I'm sorry that it takes me being in danger for you to even talk to me"

Then she walked upstairs into her room.

The boys looked at me. 

Me "I'm tired"

I walked upstairs into my room.

I walked out of the bathroom and back into my bedroom. Nik was sitting there in the bed.

he looked at me. 

I shook my head "I'm not going to take the offer, Nik"

He nodded "i know"
