❝ New Notification:
Hey, reachingformorex, so... I was looking in my suggested and found a book that has to do with Hermione's sister and her name is Elle and the love interest is Fred and basically she comes to Hogwarts at the same time and —❞
Look, bitches, if you plagiarise me, I will never ever trust you or your account again.
If you plagiarise, just /know/ ALL your other works are suspicious to me! IF YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO STEAL A BOOK , you don't seem to have the creativity to ACTUALLY come up with your own plot.
The truth is, most people who have been caught stealing my work have been followers of mine, fans! I don't understand how someone so 'supportive of me' could do that, steal people's works.
It's happened time and time again to me personally. I honestly can't remember how many times; it's been that many.
Every time I confront a person who has stolen from me, they always fill my private messages with reasons as to why they did it.
"I just love your book so much!"
Right. Enough to steal it and claim it as your own. Fuck off.
"I wanted to write a book like yours! I honestly don't see the problem!"
FUUUUUCK right off. You and I both know the difference between like and the same.
It's my mental health!"
You're depressed?! I'm depressed that I have to deal with this every other month!
(Yes, believe it or no, people have used their mental state as an excuse)
And you know what the real kicker is?
It's not just the annoying pain that having your work stolen brings, it's not the lame-ass excuses that the plagiarisers fill my inbox with, it's the other people: the other fans who tell me:
Oh, Jess! You shouldn't take it too hard! It's a form of flattery; they like what you write!
No! NO, it's not a form of flattery! It's a form of theft. And, you saying that isn't making me feel any better, it's making me think that y-o-u are apart of the problem !
Teach people that it's wrong to steal other people's work.
And, of course, they know stealing other people's work is wrong, so don't try to tell me that they don't know that it is.
From the first grade, we're being taught to continually cite our work, and that taking other people's words without giving credit is bad, so don't try to sell me that shit, okay!?
