What a Kiss Feels Like

8 1 1

They say is kiss is like a start

A wordless letter to the heart,

Yet why can I not feel the same?

Those icy eyes stared into mine,

Excitment caught in a premature shine,

Passions you only sought to inflame.

A feather touch light as my chest,

Told myself this wasn't like the rest,

That the bottle turning had been true.

Such a cruel trick to play,

Should have kept my hopes at bay,

For the snake in waiting was my dearest You.

They say a kiss can turn the tides,

A base for love they do provide,

But now I really must ask why-

Now when i dream of lips touching mine,

And answer questions of 'are you fine?'

I must think always of the kiss that felt like a goodbye
