When I woke up, Emily was sitting on my stomach and Bailey was laying next to Daniel.

"What's up?" I said groggily.

She smiled and waved. I checked my phone to see what time it was; it was 9:00. I was really tired, but I couldn't go back to sleep so I got up.

"Are you hungry?"

"Yah!"

"What do you want?"

"Pancakes."

"Okay, let's go brush our teeth."

After brushing our teeth, we went into the kitchen. I put Daniel in a high chair and got started. I decided to make pancakes, sausage and bacon, even though it was just me and two small children. I made French toast for myself because I didn't want pancakes. Suddenly, I heard the front door open and a deep voice resonated through the house.

"Yoooo," I heard Darrell say.

"What are you doing here?" I asked. I turned around and saw he brought his girlfriend, Alexis, with him.

"Just wanted to stop by for a minute."

"Yall wanna stay for breakfast?"

"Yeah sure."

"Alexis, do you want pancakes or French toast?"

"French toast."

I finished cooking and put everything on the table.

"So why are y'all up so early today?" I asked cutting up a pancake for Daniel.

"Well she woke me up and I went to go pick her up. Then we didn't know what to do, so we came here," Darrell explained.

I saw Alexis kinda nudge Darrell a little and his eyes widened for her to stop. I watched them for a minute before saying anything.

"What's goin' on?"

"Give it to her now," Alexis said.

She had a big smile on her face and it made me nervous.

"Give me what?"

"Well, I know you're going to LA on Sunday, so I wanted to give you your birthday present early," Darrell said.

He walked into the living room and came back with a card.

"Happy early birthday Bri," he said handing me the card.

I opened the envelope, pulled out the card and tried to read it, but Darrell snatched it away.

"Forget the card; look in the envelope!"

I looked back in the envelope and pulled out two tickets to the Clippers' season opener. Shit yes!

"Oh my god, I love you! Thank you!" I said giving him a hug.

"No problem."

"But this isn't until October, why are you giving them to me now?"

"Well somebody couldn't wait," he said looking at Alexis.

I laughed a little. I felt like I had to do something for them because this was kind of a big deal.

"What are y'all doin' tonight?" I asked them.

"Darrell's taking me out. I don't know where though," Alexis answered.

I ran to my room and got my wallet.

"Here," I said handing Darrell $100, "y'all have fun."

"I already have money," he said.

"Well now you have more."

I'm not gonna lie, I spoil my brother. Even though he has a job and he's a senior in high school, I chose to do it. He is my baby brother; I gotta take care of him.

"Thanks," he said giving me another hug.

"You're welcome."

After they finished eating, they left. I cleaned the kitchen, then gave Daniel & Emily a bath. I got them into their clothes and shortly after Myron came to pick them up. When they left, I went back in my room to change. I had nothing to do today, so I sat on the couch with Bailey until I got a call from Monique.

Me: Hey hoe, what's up?

Monique: Nothin'

She sounded really tired

Me: Are you hungover?

Monique: Yeah

Me: [laughs] Why were you drinking so much last night?

Monique: I wanted to escape reality for a minute.

I knew exactly what she was talking about. All I could do was shake my head.

Monique: But forget about me, what are you doing for your birthday on Wednesday?

Me: I think my family wants to take me out to dinner.

Monique: Oh

I didn't like the sound of her voice. She sounded upset and exhausted.

Monique: [crying] Bri, when are you coming back.

Me: I don't know yet. Monique, what's wrong?

Monique: I need you to come back. I'm not happy like I used to be.

Me: Nique, I do-

Monique: Briana please! I just can't take it anymore.

Me: Okay. I'll see what I can do.

Monique: Thank you Bri. I gotta go, but I'll call you later.

Me: Okay

I hung up and I was on the verge of crying. The fact that my best friend feels this way hurts me so much. It's a good thing I'm leaving tomorrow. I let out an obnoxious sigh. I was going back to LA for a week for my birthday and it was supposed to be a happy time, but how am I supposed to be happy when my best friend isn't. I sighed another obnoxious sigh and went back in my room to pack.
