I bring my knees to my chest and tears continue to fall down my cheek. I shouldn't be so upset over Alexander's words. Yet I am. He spilled his heart out to me and I replied with the sweet words of rejection.
But I don't feel bad about it.
The asshole deserved it.
But I now know the truth. And quite honestly, I am relived. The truth is out, no more living our lives behind secrets. Now if everyone can just know that he was the one who rejected me.
He needs to tell his pack that he did find his mate. That he just rejected her on sight. Because he's lying to his pack, and that's not good. The truth always finds a way to be told. Even if it's sooner or later. And Alex needs to be the one to tell his pack the truth.
And when that happens. There's going to be an up-roar. Rejection is the worse kind of pain for not just werewolves, but for everyone. His pack will be distant to him because of what he did to me two years ago.
But he'll gain their trust back. He has no choice. Or he will be overthrown.
He needs to tell them.
"Come in." A distraught Alexander calls from inside his office.
I slowly open the door and walk inside, shutting the door behind me.
"Aubrey.." Alexander trails off, sitting up a little straighter.
"Save it, Alexander. And it's Alpha A." I say sitting down in front of him.
Alexander nods his head and slumps over the slightest.
"You need to tell me." I say flatly.
"Tell who what?" Alexander asks, I roll my eyes.
"You need to tell your pack that you found your mate, but you rejected her on sight. The truth always finds a way out, Alexander. Your pack will be pissed and everything else towards you. But there emotions would be better if they heard the truth from you sooner rather than later." I explain to him.
Alexander sits there quietly. Not making eye contact with me.
"I know you don't like the idea, Alexander. But you have to come clean with it. Your pack thinks you haven't found your mate which is why they fell into nothing because you were having trouble leading without a mate. Without a Luna. You must do this, Alexander. You have to tell them that you know who your mate is. That you rejected her for your own reasons. That you can't lead without a Luna when you thought you could." I tell him again.
"I know that you're right, Alpha A. But to stand in front of my entire pack. To stand in front of your family that came into my fathers office at the time bringing news that you got rejected and left and was no longer a member of Red River, telling them that I was the one who rejected there only daughter. I wouldn't be surprised if I were to be killed before tomorrow morning." Alexander rasps out.
My parents came into the office telling them that I got rejected? That I left Red River because I didn't want to live where my so called mate would be? I didn't know that. I guess I should've expected it though.
