Yazan pov:
I was pulled from my dreamland by a scream.
"Mr. Khan!" Noor-e-Haya screamed, her body drenched in sweat.
"Are you okay?" I asked, holding her hand gently.
"I'm fine," she whispered shakily, "Just had a bad dream."
But before I could respond, her phone rang. The moment she saw the screen, her face drained of color. She broke down, crying uncontrollably.
"Please, Mr. Khan," she begged, her voice frantic. "Take me to the hospital. Please, I need to go!"
Sometime back
Tring tring
"Hello, Assalamualaikum, how are you?" I asked.
"Walaikum Assalam, Alhamdulillah, I'm fine. How is she?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
"Listen, she's fine, but I'm heading to the hospital with her right now," I replied.
"What happened to her? Is she okay? I'm coming to the hospital—wait for me!" he said urgently.
"You're here? Why didn't you tell me? How is Aasiya?" I asked, surprised.
"Alhamdulillah, she's fine and here with me. Okay, I'll meet you in a while," he said.
Shit, he's coming too. What will happen now? How will Noor react? I was snapped out of my thoughts by Noor's frantic crying.
Sobs sobs
"Noor Hayati, don't worry, nothing will happen. Look, we've reached the hospital," I said softly, trying to comfort her.
Noor-e-Haya pov:
Tring, tring
When I checked the caller ID on my phone, it was Shaheer uncle. It must be urgent, I thought.
I answered the phone.
"Hello, Assalamualaikum uncle, how are you? Is everything okay?" I asked.
"Walaikum Assalam, beta, nothing is fine," he said in a low voice.
"Uncle, what happened? Aunty is fine, right?" I asked, panic rising in my chest.
"Beta, it's Ayyan. He's not fine. He's been poisoned," said uncle, his words causing my heart to sink.
I didn't know what to do. When I saw Yazan, I asked him to take me to the hospital. The whole way there, my mind kept racing with thoughts of Ayyan.
When we finally reached the hospital, I rushed inside to find Uncle Shaheer.
"Uncle Shaheer, where is he? What happened to him?" I asked, my voice trembling, tears welling up in my eyes.
Yazaan pov:
I didn't know what to do, so I just followed Noor. I watched as she spoke to the doctor, asking him about someone named Ayyan. I don't know why, but a wave of anger washed over me. Why was she here to see a guy?
That's when the doctor pointed toward the ICU.
I followed Noor to the ICU, my mind racing with questions and emotions.
"Ayyan bacha, see, I'm here. I'm so sorry for everything I did. Please forgive me. Please get well soon, for your mama... she needs you," Noor said, holding Ayyan's hand gently in hers.
I was shocked. Ayyan was just a child, maybe four or five years old, but why was she calling herself his mama?
Before I could ask, the doctor called me over.
"Assalamualaikum, I am Dr. Shaheer, Noor-e-Haya's uncle," the doctor said.
"Walaikum Assalam, I'm Yazan, Yazan Zahid Khan, Noor-e-Haya's husband," I replied.
"You're Noor's husband?" he said, pausing for a moment before continuing. "I don't know if she's told you anything about her past, but if she married you, I'm happy for her. I need your help," the doctor said, worry in his voice.
"Okay, go on," I said, waiting for him to explain.
"Ayyan isn't doing well. His chances of survival are very low. The only way we can save him is through a blood transfusion, but the problem is that Ayyan's blood type doesn't match Noor's, and we don't have his blood type in the bank," the doctor explained.
"What blood type do you need?" I asked, my mind racing.
"O positive," the doctor replied.
"I'll give my blood," I said firmly.
"I can't take your blood, it could be harmful to you if I take that much," the doctor replied.
Before I could ask or say anything more, I heard a voice.
"We both will give our blood. I hope that won't be a problem, Doctor Shaheer," said my best friend.
"Don't worry, doctor. We're both O positive. Now go and start the preparations," I said, trying to stay calm.
Once the doctor left, I turned to my best friend.
"I'm sorry, yaara. You finally get to meet her, but the situation is so bad. I didn't know any of this..." Before I could finish, he interrupted.
"It's not your fault. Actually, thank you so much for finding her and taking care of her," he said.
"Go meet her," I urged.
"I will, but not today. Listen, I'm heading back today—I have an important meeting. I'll leave Aasiya here. Take care of both of them," he said, pulling me into a hug.
"Don't worry, I'll take care of both of them," I reassured him.
Noor-e-Haya pov:
Ya Allah, please forgive me for all the mistakes I've made. Please don't take Ayyan from me—he's the only support I have in this world. Please save him.
I was making dua while sitting on my prayer mat when Shaheer uncle called me.
"Noor, he's safe. Nothing happened," said Uncle, his face softening with a reassuring smile.
"Really? Can I see him, please?" I asked, tears welling up in my eyes.
As I entered his room, I saw Ayyan—my son, my world—lying on the hospital bed. The sight of him made my heart ache, and I couldn't hold back my tears. I rushed to his side and gently took his hand in mine.
"Ayyan bacha, look, mama is here. Please, open your eyes. I promise I will never leave you alone," I said, trying to steady my voice through the tears.
"Promise... you won't leave Ayyan alone," Ayyan said in his soft, baby voice.
I was so overwhelmed with happiness that I hugged him tightly, whispering, "I promise, my baby."
