Once is a Coincidence

Part 14

Momo felt Dahyun's body soften into her embrace, which made her smile in relief. Dahyun hummed out of the blue and dug her face into Momo's shoulder, wanting to stay like this forever.

When I see you fast asleep in my arms
I can’t take my eyes off you for a second
You’re so pretty – I feel like my breath will stop
How can I fall asleep?

My love, my everything, my angel from heaven
My two eyes, my world – you stole them all
Little star tonight
All night, I will watch over you 

Momo kissed Dahyun's forehead before whispering one last confession,

"I love you, my little star."

As the blonde awakened, she felt relieved at the sight of Dahyun sleeping in her embrace soundly. She couldn't describe the feeling she had. She had never felt this way - not even towards Mina. She knew this wasn't just another crush.

This love is special.

Dahyun slowly woke up, sensing that someone was observing her from up close. Her eyes slowly wandered to the blonde's eyes. Their eyes slowly met. Her heart skipped a beat for some odd reason. She found something else in Momo's eyes... something she had never seen before. Aspark.

"You're awake," Momo smiled, her cheeks turning pink. Dahyun blinked and nodded awkwardly, not knowing how to react to their current position. She slowly removed her arms from Momo's back. Her entire body felt cold all of a sudden.

"Are you feeling better?" Momo asked persistently, wishing that Dahyun would somehow reply back to lessen her anxiety. She could see from Dahyun's eyes that the latter was obviously still affected by their fight last night.

Dahyun nodded again, avoiding Momo's eyes.

Momo frowned, "I'm sorry about yesterday."

"It's alright," Dahyun answered curtly before removing Momo's arms from her neck. She slowly sat up and moved to the edge of the bed, staring off into space.

"No, it's not. I know you're still mad... if you want, I can request to switch rooms with Nayeon-"

"Is that what you want?" Dahyun suddenly cut her off. Momo couldn't recognize the voice that just interrupted her. This isn't Dahyun. Her voice wasn't like this. It was too serious for Momo's taste.

Nonetheless, she answered her honestly.

"No... but-"

"You don't want that? But I thought you liked Mina?"

Momo swallowed hard, realizing what she had just said without thinking. She hesitated for a second, but eventually decided to stick with her previous answer.

"I did... but not anymore."

Dahyun turned around abruptly, "Who do you like then?" She asked in the most serious, relaxed manner. It's as if she was already expecting an answer. The two girls exchanged eye contact and at that moment, Momo knew only one thing. She was caught. Dahyun knew; she knows everything now. 

"Me?" 

Momo remained silent until Dahyun started to laugh hysterically; except it wasn't a laugh. It was torture to Momo. In her laugh, she heard nothing but disbelief, anger, and pain. Dahyun didn't like the idea of this. She was disgusted.

Dahyun's forced laughter faded away when she realized Momo's broken expression. Momo was looking down at the empty sheet that served as a boundary to her genuine feelings to get across Dahyun's narrow-minded thoughts.
