                                  PART SIX 'RED' - CHAPTER 47 - ALICE'S POV

I stepped out of the car, waving goodbye to Cheryl and Ginger, who were going back to Thornhill, aka Cheryl's mansion. I had more important things to do than listen to Ginger gossip about anyone and everyone, so I had decided against going back to Cheryl's house with them, instead I was heading home.

When I unlocked the front door and entered my house, I was mildly surprised to see Bianca, my stepmother, sitting in the kitchen. Despite the countless clichés about evil stepmothers, I have to say that Bianca is actually rather nice.

"Hi, Bianca," I say, making my presence known as I stand in the doorway.

"Oh, hello Alice,"  she hummed, "Just getting home?"

I nod, before saying, "Yeah, I just came back from Pop's, actually. I've uh, I've got homework though, so I'll be upstairs if you need me,"

I turn on my heel, and head upstairs. It's true, I have homework, but I'm not going to do it, not now anyway. As soon as I get in my room, I shut the door, but leave it unlocked.

I plug in my phone, and then throw myself down onto my bed, sighing. A year ago, Riverdale was a nice, small town, where nothing bad ever happened. I smile to myself, as I think about how Riverdale compares to Hawkins, Indiana, the small town from one of my favorite shows. Nothing bad ever happened there, and then Will Byers went missing. I wonder if that's what's happening to Riverdale, if Jason Blossom is our Will Byers.

And, if Jason Blossom is our Will Byers, then who will be our Eleven?

I don't have much time to ponder this thought though, because I get a notification telling me that I have three text messages, from Betty, Veronica, and Jughead.

Betty and Veronica are both messaging me about Archie, someone I'm not really in the mood to talk about, and Jughead's messaging me about the Drive-In, which is apparently being shut down. I send a quick reply to Jughead, telling him not to worry, and that we can go see Mayor McCoy about it tomorrow.

I look at the top of the screen to check the time. It's actually getting kind of late, so I throw on some pajamas and go to sleep. Or, I try to go to sleep, but wind up scrolling through instagram for another half hour.

The next day, at Riverdale High, Alice stood at Betty's locker, with Veronica, and the blonde girl herself.  Across the hall, Jughead Jones was passing out fliers, while Archie talked to him.

"Why didn't you tell me that Alice knew?" Archie asked quickly, moving through the crowd of students with Jughead.

The novelist simply shrugged, handing out another flyer as he said, "You never asked."

"How hard would it have been to give me a little heads up, about Betty?" The redheaded jock asked.

"Look, I am, by nature, a conscientious objector," Jughead sighed, "Not saying anything to you, or Betty, was the most moral, apathetic choice I could make."

"But Jug," Archie said, stopping Jughead in his tracks, "She's not going to write about me an Grundy, like, in the paper, is she?"

Jughead scoffed, "Dude, seriously?"

The novelist looked around, checking to see who might be listening, before pulling Archie o the side.

"Okay, think about what you're asking," Jughead said quietly as they moved away from the mass group of highschoolers, "If there was even an iota of a chance that something could hurt you in anyway, Betty wouldn't do it."

After a second, Jughead said, "Probably."

Archie's eyes widened, saying, "Oh my god-"

"I'm kidding," Jughead said, a ghost of a smile illuminating his face, "But, maybe she has a point... I mean, what do you see happening with Grundy? Long-term?"

Archie sighed quietly, looking down as Jughead continued, "What do you want?"

"I think, I think I want to be with her.... I don't know how, but I wanna hang on to whatever we have for as long as possible," Archie said.

Jughead resisted the urge to roll his eyes at his naive friend, instead saying, "Yeah, I get that."

"Just... if Betty's going to do anything, crazy, can you please let me know so I can do something to stop it?" Archie asked slowly.

Jughead nodded, before walking away.

Little did Archie know, that just down the hall, Betty was already doing something a little bit crazy.
