Chapter 31

I woke up the next morning to see everyone still sleeping, except for Elizabeth, who wasn't in the room at all. I quickly changed and fixed my hair, then went downstairs.

I saw Elizabeth sitting on a couch by a roaring fire.

"'Morning Abby." She said, jumping up.

"Hi." I said with a tired tone.

"Oh come on," she said. "you can't still be tired."

"Oh if you were on a train for a day, then a boat for four, you would be too." I said, rubbing my eyes.

We left the tower and walked down to the halls.

"So, where's the Great Hall?" I asked.

"Down here." Elizabeth said, leading me through the halls.

We walked in to a large room similar to the Great Hall at Hogwarts. It had four long tables and a large on up front. Elizabeth led me to the table on the far left.

"This is the Thunderbird table." She said. We sat down across from each other and started eating.

A boy walked up to us and sat down next to Elizabeth.

"Hey Justin." Elizabeth said, not taking her eyes off her newly obtained food.

"Hey Elizabeth." He said. He looked up at me with a strange look. "Who are you?"

"Oh, that's Abby." Elizabeth said. I gave a half smile and went back to eating.

"You must be hungry huh?" Justin said. I sheepishly nodded, looking up.

"Oh, so are you that new girl from Hogwarts Professor Tolls has been telling us about."

I nodded. Justin gave me a puzzled look and said. "Why aren't you talking?"

Elizabeth elbowed Justin in the side to keep him quiet.

"Ow!" He said. "What was that for?"

"For playing twenty questions with Abby!" She said. "She's new here, and we don't need to make her feel more uncomfortable."

Justin sat in silence for a while.

"What are you even doing at our table?" Elizabeth said.

"I always come over here in the morning." Justin said. "Why would it be different."

"Just go to your table."

"Fine," Justin said. "I'll see you later."

Justin stood up and walked off. I looked at Elizabeth with wide eyes.

"What?" She said, looking up from her plate.

"Why were you so mean to him?" I said.

"Well, ever since people accused us of dating," Elizabeth said. "I became more and more irritated with him. He did nothing wrong, it's just when that kind of thing happens to me, I start to get mad at whoever it is."

"Wait," I said. "this has happened before?"

Elizabeth nodded, then said. "I used to be really good friends with this guy named Logan. We would hang out all the time, and Charlie started accusing us of dating. We drifted apart because I didn't want to hurt him. Now we don't talk at all."

I sat in silence and said. "I guess I know how you feel."

"Really?"

"Yeah," I said. "back at Hogwarts, I was friends with this boy named Fred. We were together all the time, and my friends started accusing me of fancying him, and accusing him of fancying me. We are just really good friends, and it just has gotten pretty annoying. I mean I know he doesn't fancy me, so it's not like anything'll happen."
