You Are Mine

Chapter 1-I Love You

Nicole POV

"I love you, Nicole." I was stunned. I gave this man 12 months of my time, only to be his friend and he proclaims his love for me. It was on November 29th and I still remember what had occurred. I was celebrating my 21st birthday. My friend, James and I had known each other for at least a year and here he was; celebrating my 21st birthday. "Nic, can I speak with you?" James asked. Leading me to another room, I curiously asked him, "Where are we going? Tell me James." James looked at me and said, "I love you, Nicole." Shocked and gasping, I replied, "No, you're lying." "I'm not. I've loved you for so long." I again replied with, "James, you're 28 and I'm 21. I can't love you, James." I began to shed tears out of sadness. James picked my chin up to look into my eyes. "Why not, my dear? Your family loves me. I'm a hard worker, I'm responsible and I would provide for you." Backing away from James, I hit the wall with my back and asked, "What do you mean, "'provide?'" I don't need your help." James walked over to me and pushed me against the wall. I began shaking and crying quietly. "Nicole, I want you to be my wife. I love you so much and I need you now. I had my eye on a beautiful ring and I was going to propose to you in 2 months." I looked down so James wouldn't see me crying. He, again, picked my face up and said, "Marry me, Nicole. I beg of you. I can't live without you. You belong to me and no one else. I swear if I see you with another man, I'll kill you both." I pushed away James and screamed, "I HATE YOU! How dare you tell me what I can or can't do. You don't own me. Stay away from me James or you'll regret it forever." With that said, I stormed out of my aunt's house, jumping into my car and leaving my birthday party and James forever
