“I can reassure you that I am not pregnant,” she declared after a few moments. “That test isn’t mine.”

Her sentence forced him to turn back to face her. She was still sitting on the bed, with her back on the headboard. She moved her torso and tried to sit up, but he lifted his index finger and forced her to stop.

“You are lying. Here says it is positive. Po-si-ti-ve. If it’s not yours then whose is this? Mine?”

“No, mine,” Jade’s feminine voice filled the currently overcrowded room. Jade was standing in front of the infirmary’s bathroom door, holding another test in her hand. She looked tired, her curly hair was messy and her eyes red. She glanced momentarily at Philip who seemed disorientated and then at Roselyn. “This one confirms it.”

”Jade,” Philip murmured and he now seemed to be in a state of shock. The whole moment was ruined by Alexander’s hoarse voice.

“You’ve been with another man,” he accused Roselyn, completely indifferent in what was going on around him. “Tell me his name, otherwise I will find out myself- you know I have the means to do so- and I will teach him a lesson.”

“Stop it now!” Roselyn hissed angrily at him. “Stop. Calm down. I haven’t been with another man and if I did, wouldn’t keep it secret. You are not the center of the universe. We have an important matter here, that’s above me and you.”

Still rigid, he backed down with his arms folded across his chest. He scowled at her, but the queen was absorbed watching the ex couple on her right. Jade was always a confident woman, but now her hands were trembling.

“Do you want to sit?” Philip who had noticed her nervousness, dragged the only chair inside the room next to her, but the woman nodded negatively. The man opposite her was examining her face and figure, which now seemed curvier.

“Have you seen a doctor?” he asked with an encouraging simper on his face and his eyes were sparkling from anticipation.

“Not yet. I just wanted to be sure first.”

“You should. Three. Months. I mean, you must be,” he murmured incoherently and blinked. “Three at least. My aunt owns the best. The best clinic in the capital. We can go there to make sure everything is normal. I mean, my mother’s sister, not the one I…”

“Ok, guys,” the King intervened. “Why don’t you go somewhere else to sort things out?”

His intention was clearly different, but he was right. The two of them were too dumbfounded that couldn’t utter even a single sentence. They needed time and privacy to discuss their current situation and the medical room wasn’t the most suitable. Philip suggested that they should go somewhere to eat, and the blond woman immediately agreed. After some goodbyes, they exited the room, leaving the two royals alone. The last time they were all alone, was a couple of days ago, and it ended with a broken vase and a huge gap between the two of them.

Roselyn straightened her nightgown once more. She felt uncomfortable because the silky fabric was moving upwards and revealing her thighs. The man was standing on the wall opposite her with his arms folded and was preying on her.

She felt an ominous feeling on her insides, as she noticed his tall well built figure moving towards her. He exhaled loudly and sat at the edge of the bed, with his elbows on his knees, without facing her. Roselyn stared at that handsome face. His jaw was chiseled and masculine, his nose and lips formed an aristocratic profile. But it was like a shadow had circled his always sparkling face. His characteristics were rough, and his breath hitched. She couldn’t see his eyes, but she was sure they were darker than a stormy sea. Her heart was divided. The one half was boiling and wanted to punch him for his erratic behavior. But the other half was like pinpointing to her not to start bickering. The way he had looked at her the very same morning proved that he was alarmed and now, the usually jovial King was oscillating between depression and speculation.
