Some of you may have predicted that something like this is going to happen, while some may not have seen it coming, but here it goes...
Losing Cinderella is the first story I uploaded when I joined Wattpad in 2012. I can't believe that a concept that I had at least 15 years ago took a least 5 years to complete. It is not perfect. It does have technical and developmental issues that need to be addressed. Now that it's finally complete, apart from the need to let it go through the editing and revision process, Losing Cinderella must now move on. When I say "move on", it is time for me to take the next step by putting it on a platform where it can generate an income, and one of these platforms is Radish Fiction, and I would like to see this through in its paperback form. Because of this intention, I would like to let everyone know that I will be taking the story down from Wattpad.
Some of you are aware that I do write for Radish. To those who don't know about Radish Fiction, it is a mobile app where you can read serialised fiction. One of my stories, Death's Heart is in it. Yes, it's is a platform where its writers earn while doing what they love. Yes, to unlock chapters, you may have to pay or wait until it's available to read for free (this is dependent on how the author sets the story up). I will be setting up the story as a Freemium where readers can pay to unlock the chapters early, or wait until it unlocks itself (a chapter is unlocked 1x per week). This will be the set up until all chapters have been unlocked. Just like Death's Heart, I may post the Radish version of the story here on Wattpad.
To those who are in the middle of the story, or may have just started, many thanks for taking interest in my story. I will leave the story up until 9:00pm of 19 March 2017 (this is GMT+8, Perth/Manila time).
To those who have read this already, and to those who have read it multiple times, my sincerest gratitude for your patience, support, and encouragement. Your votes, comments, and adding this story to your collection, has been a fantastic motivation through the years.
Now, to those who may think that this decision is unfair before you post a comment, please think again and assess the logic in your argument. It is unfortunate to see fellow writers receive this kind backlash from readers who think of writers who decide to take down their stories for the opportunity to earn a living as "selfish". I have received this backlash as well when I started posting Death's Heart on Radish. The reality is that we do have financial obligations and we do have goals. If you were on our side of the fence with the same opportunity, I guarantee, you'll do the exact same thing. If you still reckon that it is selfish/unfair/wrong to take this story down for the opportunity to let it generate an income, and aspire to see it in print, you are entitled to your opinion, however, it won't change the decision.
I will still post stories on Wattpad, but the updates will be erratic as I do have a day job, a family, and an uncooperative muse.
To those who are asking about The "Me" Rules, I am still in the process of writing it, and I won't be posting chapters until I have fixed my timeline and have a significant amount of chapters to post.
Again, I appreciate all your support and patience. Now, I shall resume the most painful part of the process–edit, revise, amputate, and kill.
