Gem Glow

Steven and I were at the big donut because the others were out and I was bored. I always found going to the big donut funny because the human called Lars would always drool over me when he thinks i'm not looking. I stood, leaning against the counter talking to Sadie about her weekend. My arm rested against the counter twirling my green hair through my fingers. I could sense Lars's eyes were on my ass the moment I walked in. So subtle that kid!

"nooooooooooooooo". I turned to see Steven hugging Lars as he tried to edge out of it while holding a box of pink donuts in his arms.

"please tell me i'm dreaming" Steven's grip got tighter as he said this. It was as if he was trying to secretly crush Lars. That would be something we had in common heh heh.

"get of me man, i'm stocking hear" i swear i saw him glance at me when he said the words stocking. Yeah right 'stocking'. Steven slid onto the floor and Sadie looked as if Steven had just died. I chuckled to my self rubbing my emerald i had on the bone between my shoulder and my neck. Sadie calmed down.

"i'm sorry Steven i guess they stopped making them". At that Steven had a look of alarm.

"stopped making them, why in the world would they stop making Cookie Cats". I burst out laughing and put my hand on his head.

"is that what all the fuss was about, you cheese ball, come on i'll buy you the freezer so you can make one of your cheesy memorials.......... Cookie Cats, you've got to be kidding me". I wiped a tear from my eye.

"you can have it for free" Lars said in what his attempt at being cool is.

"thanks" Steven grinned. He grabbed the fridge and put it on his back.

"bye" I waved. Sadie waved back and Lars just stood there blushing like and idiot. As soon as we walked through the front door, we got attacked by a group of gem centipedes. As if on instinct i took out my weapon (a spiked bat) and took two of them out. They disappeared with a puff of smoke. I'm so glad they do that, cleaning up corpses is not on my 'to do' list.

"umm you guys, these things don't have gems". Amethyst started to pick her nose. I took out four more. THWAK, THWAK, THWAK, THWAK. God I love to be me.

"that means there must be a mother near bye". Garnet stated while punching another one away like a badass.

"yeah boss battle" I howled in excitement.

"can i come, can i, can i, can i" Steven chimed in, getting my vibes.

"Steven, until you learn how to control the powers in your gem we will take care of protecting all of humanity". Pearl said trying to make it sound obvious. She tries so hard, maybe oneway she will find her own thing. I took three more out on route to the door at the end of the house. It opened in a green hexagon light and I walked into my room.

(later that day)

I opened my eyes to a chiming sound so loud I almost had a heart attack. I knew the sound well it meant that Steven needed me. I sighed, I should of never installed that door bell. I got up and walked to the door. 

"what" I asked, one eye still closed.

"how do you summon your weapon?" Steven asked back. I opened my eye, walked over to the kitchen and grabbed an egg from the fridge. 

"I source adrenaline from fear, anger, love, excitement or just the basic need to smash things, focus on what I want to smash" I through the egg in to the air, drew my weapon and smashed the egg in mid flight.

"and smash it" I finished with a pool of egg at Stevens feet. Steven took an egg and through it to. I leaned against the table and watched him. It landed on his head. Pearl walked in.

"stop making a mess" she barked at Steven.

"but" Steven stuttered. I chuckled.

"this was amusing Steven". I gave him a fist bump.

"we should do this more often"

"are you still on about your gem". Amethyst groaned from the couch. Pearl  looked up.

"don't be silly Steven, your going to get it soon"

"and your fun to have around even if your gem is useless ...... i mean your one of us Steven, were not the Crystal Gems without you". Amethyst looked up at Steven and Garnet nodded in approval. 

"plus your thirteen and half human, we were born in our 20's". i said trying to sound truthful when in reality this was all just hilarious to watch.

"yeah even if I don't have powers I've still got Cookie Cat". I couldn't hold it in, I burst out laughing on the floor. Garnet frowned at me and Pearl gave me a look of disapproval but Steven laughed with me. His gem started to glow a beautiful rose pink, I knew all to well. I felt a pang in my heart and as soon as I sore the shield Steven summoned; the shield rose and i used to play Frisbee with, tears started to flow out of my eyes. I went into my own, no longer listening to what they were doing. Silently i slid onto the floor. 

Suddenly a thunderous rumble broke me out of my trance. I wiped my eyes clean.

"what was that" Steven blinked. I almost whispered it, I was so excited.
