"Just relax."

I tried to speak but it was muffled since his hand was still over my mouth.

"If I move my hand, will you scream? I would hate it if you did."

I shook my head no. He then slowly removed his hand from my mouth. I breathing began to get heavy, "Why...the hell... would you do that?"

"Cuz' I knew you would scream if I just popped out of nowhere so that was the only way to keep you quiet," he said nonchalantly.

"I don't think you really thought that one through considering the fact that if you didn't cover my mouth fast enough I woulda screamed anyways. And why are you trying to get me to be quiet anyways? Aren't you supposed to be out there getting to know your new future in-laws?"

"I could say the same thing to you considering you been in the bathroom for almost 30 minutes."

Was I really in there that long?

I rolled my eyes, "Whatever. What do you want? You know it's gonna look suspicious if we're both gone."

"Well first, I wanted to talk to you alone about this whole situation and second, I don't think our parents will mind since their yapping their mouths off about nothing and plus we're supposed to get to know each other. I mean, we are getting married right?," he said with an obnoxious smile that was slightly attractive.

"Uh yeah but no. I don't even wanna be here let alone marry you."

"At least we agree on something. What's the reason you're doing this then?"

"My father said something about keeping peace between our family. I have no idea what happened but knowing my father it could be anything. I'm not all that surprised since arranged marriages are a thing with us but my father would tell me that things would be different for me..now look," I was on the brink of crying again as I talked about the situation I was in but managed to keep myself together, "Um, what about you? Why are you doing it?"

"Uh-well it's pretty much the same as you. I don't know about the keeping the peace part but arranged marriages are my family's thing too. Also my father is a little intimidating so if I were to disobey him, there's no telling what would happen to me."

"What? No way! Your father seems very sweet to me. A little eccentric but he's still sweet."

He chuckled, "Well you don't know my father to know his sweet side. He's just playing nice right now but get on his bad side, you'll be wishing you never met him."

I rolled my eyes, "Right. Anyways, I think it's time to go back. I've been in your presence a little longer than I expected."

"You're insulting me now? That's not very nice coming from a good girl like you."

"There's a lot you don't know about me Sven. Let's try to keep it that way."

"You know what? You're right. What I need to know about a little girl like you anyway," he began laughing and before I could say anything he walked away.

Irritated and annoyed were the words to describe how I was feeling. I just wanted this night to be over already.

"Hey honey, you alright? I thought I was gonna have to come and get you," my mom said and smiled at me when I returned. All eyes were on me as I approached the table which made my stomach do flips and tricks.

"Yea, um I don't feel too good Mom can we go?," I asked as quietly as I could.

"Um," she looked back and forth from me to my father.
