Chapter 3 | | I heard you are a player. Nice to meet you, I'm the coach
I left school and made my way home. My house is a 20 minute walk from my school which is not that long and I enjoy walking anyways. My mom wasn't home when I got there. I found a note on the kitchen table, saying that she'll be working late. I made myself some pasta with pesto. After having eaten my food, I went upstairs in my room and started doing my homework which was an awful lot, although the week has only started. I sat down on my wooden white desk which was placed near the window.
I opened it and a warm breeze entered my room. The scent of lilies, tulips and sun flowers floating across my room. I took a deep breath and smiled. Spring is my favourite season of the year because it's warm and sunny, yet not burning hot. Particularly, here in California where the warmth is rather dry than humid which makes it more bearable.
I decided to start with Biology since it is the subject where I had to do most and the topic wasn't really one of my favourites, so I really wanted to get through with it as fast as I can. After I finished my homework, it was already dark outside. I stood up and laid on my bed. As my eyes were slowly starting to shut down I heard my phone buzzing.
I looked at the Caller ID and saw Paula's name appearing on the screen.
"Bob's Orphanage, you make 'em, we take 'em. What can I do for you ?", I answered the phone.
I heard Paula laughing on the other side of the line.
"How did you come up with that ?", she asked me still chuckling.
"Tumblr, duh. So how was your day so far ?"
"Nothing really important happened. What about you ?"
"I had a nice encounter with Noah today, well two to be honest.", I replied and put my phone on speaker.
"Wait, tell me you're not talking about the Noah Evans.", she said surprised.
I told her everything, starting with me and Noah crushing into each other during lunch until what happened in the detention room.
"Hm.", Paula mumbled pensively.
"Why are you so quiet?"
"You set me thinking.", she said, breaking the silence. "About what? Noah is not really a person to rack your brain over.", I responded confused.
"Maybe this is the perfect chance to pay him back. I mean you already have his attention. You just have to play him a bit and maybe even make him fall for you."
I thought about it as well. Keep on playing the game he kind of started, but I wouldn't go that far to say that I would be able to make him fall in love with. He is not the type of person who falls in love with someone. This is not some cliché High school drama, where the bad boy falls in love with the nerd and realizes that she "is not like the other girls", no.
"I don't know. I actually just want to avoid any kind of drama at all costs and get through senior year. I don't even want to be with him, he is just annoying the crap out of me. His cockyness and his comments are so infuriating. "
"You know what I mean, Sofía. Just play him a bit. I don't believe that you two will build up a relationship that could be strong enough to have an impact on any of you two. There won't be any real drama. I'm sure you want avoid him, but I don't think he'll let you. You know how that guy works, he won't give up until he's got what he wants. After all, this is just a game and you can either be the player or the toy. Just play along and you will see that in two months everything will be forgotten and it'll be like you two have never spoken to each other. I have to go now, my mom called me for dinner. See you tomorrow, bye."
"Bye.", I replied and hung up the phone and put it on my table next to my bed.
I changed into my pyjamas, turned the lights off and went to bed. I thought about what Paula said. Playing along could be an option, but I think I'll just try to avoid him. I'm really not that type of person to do that. Slowly, my eyes closed and I fell into a deep sleep.
I kept checking my watch, currently sitting in my Biology class. I actually do like Biology, but I hate our topic right now. Those endless lectures about cells, how they function and how important they are, so annoying. Noah's friends, Jackson and Eddy are in this class too which means the lesson is quite entertaining every now and then. Mr. Miller, our Biology teacher, hates their guts and is relieved every time they don't disturb anybody.
"Listen up.", Mr. Miller shouted. "For the rest of the lesson you have time to complete your worksheets which have to be due to next lesson. You can either work alone, with a partner or in groups."
I was about to start, when I noticed Eddy and Jackson looking at me. They stood up and started walking towards me. Great.
"Hello, Partner.", Jackson grinned at me.
"What makes you think that I'll work with you two.", cocking an eyebrow.
"Because you really, really like us and want us to copy your worksheets.", Eddy commented, smiling innocently.
"Oh really ? Do I ?", I let out a little chuckle.
I shook my head. " Fine, sit down, but I won't do all the work.", I pointed at the seat next to me.
After 15 minutes we had finished filling out the worksheets. Jackson and Eddy are not as bad as I thought. They are actually quite funny, sometimes a little annoying, but funny.
After the bell rang, I packed up my stuff and went to my locker. I took out my books for the next lesson, not noticing that someone was making their way towards me.
"Sofía!", a female piercing voice was filling the hallway.
A voice so jarring and deafening that you immediately knew to whom this voice belonged to....
What do you think who it might be ?
And what does she want from Sofía ?
I really hope you enjoy reading this. If you find any errors or anything please let me know :)
