What to wear?

I had taken a shower and was throwing things out of my closet.

Girls wear dresses to parties right?

Or is that only in the movies?

Okay, so maybe I had never attended a highschool party. But it's not like I was missing out on anything. I'm sure it would just be a bunch of drunk teens with beer kegs grinding and twerking like nobodies business.

I sigh, running a hand through my loose, frizzy hair. I might as well be comfy. I decide on jeans and a black vneck. I throw on a cardigan and put my hair into another braid. Someone knocks on my door.

"Come in," I call, rummaging through my jewlery box.

Colton enters, his hair damp from a shower and he was now wearing a pair of dark wash jeans and a fitting dark t-shirt. "We have-" He stops when he sees me. "That's what you're wearing?" He gapes at me with an incredlous look.

I glance down at my outfit. "Yeah, what's wrong?"

He snorts. "Everything. Have you ever even been to a party?"

I open my mouth to respond, but he stops me. "And not birthday parties."

"Yeah, obviously," I roll my eyes, my heart beating a little faster.

"You liar!" Colton exclaims, pointing a finger at me.

My cheeks flush and I cross my arms. "Okay, so maybe I've never been to a party but so what?" I scoff.

Colton's eyes widen. "You've missed out on the best time of your life!" He cries out. He marches straight to my closet and starts rummaging around.

Rude, much?

"Wear this." He instructs, throwing a black dress at me. It was modest, ending an inch above my knee and had a gold belt around the waist.

"You're not the boss of me," I quip, frowning.

"Hey. If you're going to show up with Colton Hayes for a party, you have to look the part. So put some makeup on and wear heels, okay?" He states and exits, closing the door behind him.

"Cocky, much?" I mutter.

"I heard that!" He calls.

"You were supposed to!" I growl back.

Sighing, I put on the dress, happy that I shaved my legs. I decided to listen to Colton and I put on some mascara and lipgloss. I also grab a pair of shiny gold heels that I bought to match the dress. I put my phone, my driver's licence and some money into a black clutch. I still keep my hair in a braid. As I'm taking one last look at myself in the mirror, Colton pounds on my door.

"Come on! I'm leaving!"

Groaning, I shut off the lights and enter the hallway, where Colton is leaning on the wall opposite my door. His eyes scan my outfit.

"Better," he shrugs.

I mumble some profanity under my breath at him but if he heard it, he doesn't say anything. "Let's go," he calls, strutting down the stairs.

"Bye, Liz and Marcus!" I call to them when I see them in the kitchen.

"Be back by 1, kids!"
