At last we were on our way. I enjoyed flaunting our captive, but we took too long. And I had just discovered another problem: If the king was half as smart as I thought, he would have recognized us, and thus know where we lived. So he could just rally a group of men and come and get us.

So that left two options: Get back to camp and get it moved before the king could find us which would almost certainly take too long, or Fay and I could abandon the camp, and leave everyone there to certain death. So, the king would be distracted and Fay and I could get away, and get the princess to tell me exactly where the freezing ring was. Taking a whole camp with would be too conspicuous, and I was definitely more inclined towards stealth. So, it was option two. We would return to camp secretly, the guards I had posted would almost certainly be asleep, gather everything we needed, and leave.

I was so engrossed in my plans, I didn't hear Fay addressing me.

"Keary!" she said as loudly as she dared without making our presence known.

"What?" I asked, slightly annoyed.

"What are our plans now?" she asked.

"We are going to return to camp, get the things we need, and leave."

"And you're going to leave your men here, am I correct?"

"Exactly," I replied. "Got a problem with that?"

Fay shrugged. "I just wanted to know what your plans were."

"Well now you know," I said, with a definite sarcastic tone to my voice.

Fay spoke again, "Oh, one more question."

I sighed. I was tired, and thus more irritable. "What?" I said, rather harshly.

"What do you want the princess for?"

"I want her to tell me where the ring is."

Well, things are starting to make sense... 'Starting to', I said. XP. Hope you guys are still enjoying!
